Think the game is too easy? Try this challenge.
Beat World 4 Level 9.1 (final optional level) with The original watermelon still fully in tact.

Because I completely overthought things, this made it the most difficult puzzle in the game for me with half of my total playtime of the game to figure this out. I had to learn multiple new concepts that I'm not sure were intended by the devs. And it was legitimately possible too. I was surprised to find out there was a simpler solution afterwards hahah. If you're looking for something more challenging, I recommend trying to complete this level with this additional rule.

EDIT: Recorded my solution in the video below: Keep in mind this is me making things way more complicated than what the devs intended. https://youtu.be/sq5nm4tA1Fc

that would be extremely hard to pass the level without cutting the original watermelon! is there anybody who can provide some thoughts?
Concrete Jul 21, 2023 @ 10:45pm
Wait.... cutting the watermelon? I took a full picture of it. lol I know I cheesed it though.
Concrete Jul 21, 2023 @ 10:47pm
Can someone tell me how to cut it cause I wedged it in the corner and it fell out of the corner by itself as I got to the camera. LOL
fuggles2k Jul 21, 2023 @ 11:00pm
you don't photograph the melon

I don't have the game installed anymore but how did you do it?
Senor Bug Jul 22, 2023 @ 8:04pm
Please someone tell me how. (make sure to make it a spoiler so people who want to figure it out themselves don't see it)
In fact, you can take a picture of a whole watermelon.

Watermelons can be stuck in this corner, allowing you to come to the camera.

After that, jump from the side of the fence into the air. When you are in front of the watermelon (in the air), there will be a period of time when you can pick up the watermelon.

Press 'E' to pick up the watermelon and make sure it rolls down the slope. Then press 'R' to restart.

Repeat these two actions, and there's a chance the watermelon will still roll down the slope, even if you restart.

Catch the opportunity to take a photo so you can get a whole watermelon like this one.

there's a pretty reliable way of doing it. stick the melon into the corner at the top of the ramp and make sure it sleeps. then go to the camera and place a sky photo close to the melon, but without touching it. it will awake it and it'll start rolling down, so quickly take a photo. as it's as close to actually cutting it as it gets, there's little point in this method, but well it fits the challenge description.
on a similar subject, i was actually able to walk up the first set of "wall-painted" stairs at the start of the "illusion" area (which i found pretty annoying overall, especially when it was first introduced) by abusing rewind, only to find out there was nothing there and i wasted all that time.

Wow! Some interesting solutions here that I didn't think of. The way I solved it was different, I didn't rely on The watermelon getting stuck. My solution was even more convoluted than that, I was really overthinking it. I'll have to try to get it in a video, it might be interesting to share.

The screenshots I took might be enough to give an idea of how I solved this:

The main idea is that since the stationary camera could take 6 photos, I used 5 empty photos to carve out the starting area. I had to place them very carefully so I could climb to the top. Getting this just right was VERY difficult, lots and lots of trial and error and pixel perfect jumps to really take advantage of everything placed there. (not pictured, part of the path carved into the back half of the structure to help get to the top).

After making a path to the top, I went back down to grab the watermelon and carry it back up. This was tough in its own right because you drop the watermelon if it collides with anything, so I had to do some of the tight jumps while facing backwards.

From here I jumped to the top of the indestructible wall.

Next, jump to the top of the bookshelf next to the stationary camera.

My first attempt was to use the watermelon as a step ladder to get on top of the fence. Unfortunately there's a rule in the game that you "can't pick up things below you," it was the only time this rule appeared for me the entire game. So instead I had to stay behind the fence and throw the watermelon over and on to the ramp. Since the physics don't easily let you throw things, I had to experiment with how to throw the watermelon perfectly to get it to barely reach the ramp and stay on it.

After throwing the watermelon on the ramp, jump off the bookshelf and snap a photo while it rolls.

To think I could have just forced it to get stuck instead of all this! That would have been a lot simpler.

so how did you throw it? spin+release/run+release?

Decided to run through it again and record it for fun! My solution is in video format here: https://youtu.be/sq5nm4tA1Fc

I experimented with spin+release or running and jumping, or just running and releasing but the game really doesn't want there to be any momentum when you release held objects. To get it to work I had to carefully choose the angle, run, and release at the same moment I hit the wall (might be hard to tell in the video, but that was the idea).

I just shoved melon against the railing in the middle of the ramp farthest from the camera, let it roll against the railing and my feet, then took microsteps backwards until it stopped following me. Basically it was stuck between railing and ramp then and I could saunter over to camera to take 1 (one) photo of whole melon with close to no effort. O_O

Granted I had no way short of hunting for spoilers to have any idea what the actual intended solution was. There were a number of puzzles where the solution I worked out failed to strike me as "the intended way" though. Like the challenge puzzle with battery in a cage. :P

hope the dev can add an corresponding achievement:
I'm not Liu Huaqiang(我不是刘华强): Finish Chapter 4 Level 9.1 without cutting the original watermelon
