Any trick to get critter houses?

I was just coming here to ask this! I've gotten far enough to unlock the River District and have grown several worlds. But, I've only found a single pet house... and I apparently need more to adopt more critters... which I need to unlock the critter care building.

I have three nature reserves. Maybe I've missed finding a fourth? I have a few critters that I have petted to the fullest and should be able to adopt. However, I only get the option to take a selfie and not adopt. So, I'm assuming it's because I don't have a house for them.

So once you pet, played, cuddle, etc with a critter enough to max out the progress bar. Make sure you have the open hand equip (so your character is not holding any tools). Then press the left mouse trigger and that will adopt the pet. You can only put 1 critter in the nature reserve at a time, but you can still put adopted pets in your inventory (so you can switch them out with other critters in the nature reserve later on).

I got a tip now for people who want critter houses.
Save before claiming rewards. The rewards that give you addons to buildings can give you critter houses. So reload until you get a critter house.

the beta got now Critter Center update & critter houses are finally purchaseable there

Perhaps off topic but can any of you please tell me how to place Critter Houses?

you assign those in the Edit Town menu, select a residential house & assign
