I hate Squirrel Stapler so, so much.
Ok, look. I hate to ♥♥♥♥ on a labor of love, but this game is keeping me from finishing the series, so ♥♥♥♥ you, Squirrel Stapler. Garbage graphics? Tedious gameplay? One-hit kills? Horrible stealth mechanics? Hell yeah! That's what players want! To walk very slowly and be killed arbitrarily. Well done.
Is there a way to get the achievement for this without having to play any more of it?

In the interest of fairness, I will state that this game is probably better than anything I've ever accomplished inside 10 days.
But seriously, how do I skip this one?

you sure you aren't talking about the thing in the lake?
that game has the same stuff you said about squrriel stapler
except more one hit kills

Yeah, Thing in the Lake had the same problem, but it also gave the achievement without having to beat it.

This is funny because Squirrel Stapler is the best game in the pack.

Well, to each their own, I suppose. Though I'm curious as to what you like about it.

Something pretty bad, apparently.

It is a hunting game, people without experience in hunting games will hate this one. This "tedious" gameplay requires you to be patient. Again, it is a hunting game. One hit kills? Well, be glad it is like this so you have more ammo when carnivores show up in your screen; also every hunting game works like that. Horrible stealth mechanics? you clearly are playing this like if it was a Doom like game, this one has the best stealth mechanics ever, it is so simple and functional, super easy to understand and get used to them. Garbage graphics? Seriously?

I feel the enjoyment you'll get out of Squirrel Stapler is going to be based solely on whether or not you enjoy hunting games as a whole.

I appreciate Squirrel Stapler as a whole in terms of what it's doing more than I enjoy playing it. I enjoy finding and reading the lore notes, I enjoy David Szymanski's works, and it's got some great sound design....but I just don't enjoy playing it. It's a good hunting game, but as someone who doesn't overall enjoy hunting games, I'm kind of neutral to it.

I will say that I am really happy that the game saves your progress after beating a day - I can only play a little bit at a time, so if I had to completely start over from Day 1 each time I would have lost patience.

I wouldn't call it the worst game in the collection (to me, that goes to Arcadletra, and that's simply due to the fact I just have not enjoyed the developer's games), but I can totally understand why some people view this as the best game and the collection and why some people think this is the worst.

Even if you are patient, like me, you still have to shoot, this attracts predators and, even if you sneak around, they find you and they take 3 bullets to kill. It's too much based on luck. Even if you know where the bullets are on the map and take care not to have less than 3, the predators still get you with their speed and their ability to take 3 bullets to kill.

Ah, hell, this thread is still going? Man, how come there ain't a 'delete thread I never should have made' button? But hey, maybe I can make something of it:
Dread X 3 is really fun. Y'all should go buy that if you haven't already.

Sidenote: Having read some responses, I at least get why people liked this one. I still don't, but If it hadn't been between me and finishing the metaplot, I probably wouldn't have been such a spazz about it.

.

If you didn't make this thread, I would have made it. Anyway, Dread X 3 is criticized for having a rather stupid hub and the games look more cute than scary.

Aaaand, I have finished the damned Squirrel Stapler game. Die 3 times, less squirrel bears. And after every shot, sneak+run in order to move quicker than you do when sneaking, but without increasing the chance of being seen/heard too much. When you hear growling in the place you just left, kill the bear squirrel. It needs 3-4 shots, close shots seem to do most damage. It's also based on luck, like when I had 2 next to one another or when they get close too quickly without the trees somewhat messing their path finding.
Took me one hour to finish day 4 and 5.

I think I'll buy the forth game in the series, The Hunt.
Socrates Jackson May 1, 2021 @ 1:50am
I actually finished it a ways back, but thanks!

As to Dread X 3, I am Halloween dork and a big fan of game jams in general, so I am enjoying the hell out of it. But I'ma buy The Hunt too.
PaldinoX May 1, 2021 @ 10:32am
The Hunt is really really good, better than DX3 IMO. You guys should definitely get it.

well its a hunting simulator, ive never been hunting but it does seem like a pain in the ass, which makes squirrel stapler fun
