I'm just curious as to why you think your Game Jam is worth $10.
Kind of ridiculous considering literally anyone can head to itch.io and download any other game jam, or better yet full actual games for free. No one is going to pay you $10 for this.

ok
Hasn't played it, decides it's not worth the money regardless, sounds about right.

Signed - ♥♥♥♥♥ who paid $10

I mean sure, you could get many jump scare filled, copy paste games for free, or you could purchase this, which has 12 games from established developers that (even with the 10 day limitation) are extremely well done and cover a wide gambit of horror from dating sim horror to stapling squirrels to a corpse.

Honestly, I think I know which one I'd rather go for.

You literally don't know what you're missing, dude.
You're getting a collection of games made by not only talented, but also pretty experienced devs.
This collection is full of well made horror games spread over a variety of genres. You have more jumpscary stuff, you have squirrel hunting sim gone right, you have a game about EATING THE FLESH OF ELDRITCH HORRORS TO EVOLVE like holy heckerooni, that's pretty damn metal.

Aren't you the same dude who played DXC1 for 2 minutes and called it garbage?
The first one was awesome, it's cheap as hell, and I love Cosmic Horror.

It feels like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ steal tbh.

i already put 5 hours into this game and i've only completed 6 of the 12 stories so you're getting your money's worth if you get it on sale now for 9$ or you get it at retail for 10$ and you're kinda scummy for downloading games off itch.io for free when i'm pretty sure it's name your own price

You gotta support your indie devs because w/o them you just keep getting the same rehashed story and mechanics in every game
Apparently, if any.. I REPEAT ANY GAME is free, you should never pay for a game.
What a big brain move there.
I mean, OP isn't wrong in that this is just some people deciding to have fun coding for a little over a week and expecting people to shell out cash for it.

Last time I checked Game Jams were more supposed to be for practicing ideas and honing your craft than a product to release.

Devs can do it however they want in the end but it really shouldn't be surprising that there's a few raised eyebrows about it.

They are more like short games, averaging about an hour or so to complete. Think of them as video game Novellas.
I like to think of it as a family run amusement park vs. a regional county fair.

I love (and will gladly pay for) both, but these games were all built to service a larger, more collective goal. Working beside the team, I can confirm these developers did not approach their contracted work lightly, especially when considering the notoriety of some of these indies. There was a vetting process involved for this product and it's quality assurance is still ongoing.

Is a mini-game a demo in Mario Party? No, the game is not as vast or polished as a triple A title, but the collection is not priced anywhere near $60 either. The house hub-world ties them all in to a very cool interactive anthology narrative.

I suggest reading the reviews or watching some streams and determining your own opinion of its worth based off of folks who have played the game.

It's not really a game jam. We specifically pay the devs to make SHORT games rather than just host a "jam" for people to experiment with ideas. The whole idea is to try and shift the development model away from multi-year dev cycles (that indie solo devs can't reasonably do without hundreds of thousands of dollars in backing) to something more sustainable while still delivering a good product to gamers. Prevent burnout, have some cool short games, make it worth the 10 bucks.
