What is the state of this game? I played it awhile back, but kind of skeptical to get back into it. What say you?

Long story short; the developer announced that they were discontinuing development of Starsand, but that Starsand players will receive some sort of preferential treatment in the development of future game titles. To give you an idea of just how "preferential" that treatment is, the abandonment of Starsand was announced on the Toplitz Studios website --- not on Steam, where the players are.

Starsand is still the best desert survival game on Steam, but nothing new will ever happen in this game. It's abandonware now.

any idea on what treatment will be? i havent seen anything on the discord.. but i havent checked in a while either

The developer stated on the game's Discord that "To express our gratitude for your ongoing support, should a new game become a reality, we'll make sure Starsand supporters will get a preferential treatment"[i/].

They didn't even have the decency to post it on Steam, even though Steam was the only service that Starsand was purchased through. I could swear I read the same on Toplitz' own news feed on their site, but the story ism't in there now (maybe they wiped it when they noticed the blowback?).

Yes it was Early Access before, but they did release it to 1.0... the game had potential to be much better than how they left it.

Such a shame! I played this as far as I could go a couple of years ago then went back to The Long Dark and other games for a while. Came back today hoping for some new content. There must be some because Steam shows three achievements that need to be completed that I don't remember being there when I stopped. Going through a portal, making it rain and burning the nest. I think I had every achievement at the time when I stopped except for getting 60 kills with the seeder rifle (or did I have the seeder rifle but the achievement was added later?). Oh well.
