So when you lose your fully equipped camel by moving too far away from it, does it despawn or does it persists and is actually wandering around someplace? It wasn't hungry. I'd just fully fed it before spending about 10 minutes beyond the big door. There are 2 feeding troughs at central locations but i didn't find it at either of those.

the feeding troughs need to be near him, once he is hungry he disappear with your stuff. Though I have bad experience with camel last week, He is full but somehow he is not tame anymore, I don't know what happened luckily he still have my stuff and I just have to feed him again. But then following day after save and sleep in my game all the stuff he have gone...it was painful experience because all my stuff I need to kill the boss and eggs was there so I end up collecting again and today same situation Just after I finally collect all I need for the boss and eggs again and was on my way to big door, I decided to save and sleep because it's night time and before I did all this I checked my camel and my stuff still there but after woke up from sleeping in game...Gone,, ,__., so yeah...

I had a similar experience a couple days ago where I was going around with my caravan of 4 camels. for some reason one of them, always the same one, kept wandering away everytime I got off my main camel, even if it was tamed, this went on and on until I went to a point I had to explore for a long time.
Of course when I went back he roamed so far away I wasn't able to find it, and then after some time i started to read the various "your camel is hungry" messages, until it became wild again.
Bye camel, saddle, saddle bags and all the loot inside them. :/

OK just a fair note here: today, after 15+ in game days, I found my lost camel with saddle and bags but not the loot, on the opposite side of the map from where I lost it, in this case it was on the most SW oasis.
