As someone that loves a good platformer, I really enjoyed how hard the game got especially towards the end. Cortex Castle was a very difficult level, but it made for a fantastic climax that felt like a true test of all the skills you've learned throughout the game. :akuaku:

Even when going for all the boxes, it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting it to be. While it is annoying that some levels have hidden boxes you can't even see, I never really found that to be a problem in most levels and perfecting them felt like a satisfying challenge most of the time.

Those Platinum relics, though... :hot_time:

it IS, I hope they dont make a crash 5, I like mario odyssey even more thanks to how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard this game is, the first few levels are fun and easy, but man, after the second dimension, the game stops being a fun platformer

the amount of boxes in any dingodile map is just blegh.. everything else is Ok though.
If hidden crates are the problem, just Youtube search where they are and problem solved.

Good luck getting the NSP Relics on stages like Run it Bayou and Crash Landed though, which contain crates that you can perfectly see, but you have to hit them all while riding an animal or vehicle and if you miss a single one it's back to the start of the level.

If you have to go on YouTube and watch a video just to play a game, then it's clear that the level design is probably bad from the very beginning. this isn't to say it's a skill issue.
but it's more saying that the difficulty is too unforgiving. but don't worry, there's a mod that removes these: https://www.nexusmods.com/crashbandicoot4itsabouttime/mods/194

No, you don't need Youtube just to play the game, we're talking about completing it. Breaking every crate in every level is not a mandatory task to beat the game, only to 100% it.

Hidden crates are no different from the Secrets in classic Tomb Raider games, the hidden Stars in Mario 64, or the missable stuff in Dark Souls that you won't find without a guide or someone telling you what to do.

Precisely because not knowing where something is isn't a skill issue, it has nothing to do with difficulty. Your skills won't improve by learning where the hidden crates are, because the real challenge in this game isn't knowing where the crates are, it's actually breaking them all in every level without dying.
Just don't hit boxes?

Yeah, i agree that they went overboard and it isn't as nice to 100% as crash 1-3

But you can, you know, just not do that?

I certainly wouldn't. Not without mods at least. Nah, screw that. All boxes and perfection relic runs ain't fun on half of levels.

Game without box hunts is actually fun though

I went in thinking I wouid be able to 100% the first two worlds blind, but I was only able to get 1 level fully completed out of the three worlds I played, usually short by four or twenty boxes on the others. I expect to need to play levels more than once since the majority of gameplay is trial and error, but the first world at least should've been more easy to perfect on their first runs to help a player get into a flow state in my opinion. I feel very discouraged from even bothering to find the extra boxes as they're usually tucked behind some jump puzzle that I feel like I need more abilities to reach (or a green gem to turn something on) to access, but none seem to be forthcoming. Or they're on paths you're forced forward on with only a few seconds to react to before you're forced to either kill yourself or restart the level neither of which is very fun.

The hookshot lady was fun, but apparently she claims she's not in the actual game so that was lame too.
