Crash Bandicoot™ 4: It’s About Time

Crash Bandicoot™ 4: It’s About Time

Anyone else feel like the music score in this game is the weakest out of the main line games?
There are two levels in the game where I like the music because it uses samples from the older crash games.

But I feel like the completely original music doesn't have that "Crash Bandicoot" feel to it. The music feels rather generic with no catchy beats compared to the original trilogy where the music is very recognizable and catchy.

The boss themes don't really sound like epic boss themes either. Was really hoping for a mega remix clash with the final cortex fight like what Crash Bandicoot 3 did but they're not really special.

The game did do a lot of fan service with their easter eggs and many of the visuals. I just wish the music was a lot better. I can recall many of the music from the trilogy but not even 1 from Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time

I think this applies to a lot of things, including SFX and death animations, but I agree. The main menu theme is pretty catchy but everything else just kinda feels restrained and more of a "background music" as opposed to the trilogy's music which is really front and center with catchy melodies.
One of the few tracks that I enjoy in Crash 4 is just a remix of Cortex's theme from Crash 1. The rest is just... there.
To clarify, when I say the trilogy - I mean the original. N.Sane's remixed soundtrack is pretty good but it doesn't have quite the same oomph as the originals. That said, Crash 4 doesn't even live up to N.Sane's weaker renditions.

Yeah I was a little disappointed when I first heard the main theme, it sounded a little tired and uninspired. I actually can't recall any of the level themes either. It does grow on you over time, but it's way weaker compared to the original Crash Bandicoot music.
I really liked the Spirit Chase, Snow Way Out, Nitro Processing, Bayou, Off Beat and N. Tropy fight soundtracks, but that's about it.

To be fair, too, many of those sound way better in the soundtrack release. For whatever reason they were altered and sometimes heavily muted in the actual game to the point of sounding far less recognizable and fun
