You don't have to go down to shoot the brain, you can remain up and crouch, then it won't hit you anymore.
In short,just stay on one side of the corridor, jump over the shots and position yourself on the opposite side, wait for the next shots wave and repeat
Between each wave you have time to take shots at the turrets so you just keep going until you have them all down. The turrent themselves aren't *that* sturdy if you stay on target with the rifle or magnum
You can also probably run and gun it if you want to go faster
Turns out the hallway is indeed tall enough to jump over the shots. Guess I'll have to start practicing my dodging.
