At it's heart, Empyreal is a Single Player experience. There are however some online features - we'll be sharing more on those soon! Thank you for your interest & suggestion!
By this response im assuming it will not feature coop at all? Not even just 2 players? Either its fine, single player are always appreciate and awesome, prolly not for me though. I usually like more souls like looter kinda games to be coop personally. Good luck regardless, hope it turns out good
Please don't waste your time on unnecessary co-op thanks devs. Concentrate on you original vision of single-player excellence. Also, an option to turn off the useless screenclutter i.e. damage pts and health bars would be ace. Thank you.
Heya. You can turn off the damage points in the settings :)
Not a good take. Making it solo, or focusing on the companies' strengths is not a magic recipe for success. See Cyberpunk for instance....
Starfield and Avowed also followed this same line of thought and they weren't as successful as they wanted to.
Most games or there are actually single player only and developed with the companies strengths in mind, but we know most games aren't good.
Trying different things brings innovation.
I completely agree.
If this game has co-op, I hope it's not like Dark Souls.
I want full co-op.
I wouldn't play this game if it's solo, but I wish the devs the best nonetheless
I think its not necessarily the stark minority. People want games, people want games they can also play with their friends, others want solo experiences.
- Developers can make solo-experiences, without co-op.
- Developers can make solo-experiences which can be completed together (like Remnant).
- Developers can make solo-experiences with co-op/enemy invasions (like Elden Ring).
- Developers can make co-op experiences, without the focus of solo (like Split Fiction).
All of these gaming types have a place. Personally, for these types of games I prefer the Remnant aspect. It doesn't take away from the game at all playing it Solo, but it can be enjoyable in different ways by playing with friends.
Just because many games in this genre do not have co-op and aim for solo-experiences doesn't mean that only solo-experiences are wanted for this genre. I don't think you need to invalidate the OP (or my) opinion by telling us we can just "go play other games". The developer made this nice looking game, and we are inquiring if they plan to add co-op elements as its something we would like to see. They clearly have a vision on the way they are taking the game, so the developer should be able to determine if they have the scope to do co-op or not.
I do hope though, based on what developer said that it is not invasion-type co-op experience, I personally found these types of experiences very underwhelming and in Elden Rings case, incredibly frustrating.
“Single player is more important”…? Most people don’t care about co-op? Where are you getting this? Most people want the capability to play with their friend even if you play alone most of the time. It’s just a net positive feature the most people are thankful to have. No one asks for a co-op game to be single player.
