Puzzle 36

I'm stuck here on puzzle 36. Hints say all 1/9 pairs should be resolvable after placing the 1/9s in C9, but I can't see a way to resolve the 1s in C2 and 9s in C4. What am I missing?

(I use the blue coloring to denote cells that can't be 1/9 pairs)

Update: I managed to continue with the puzzle by looking at the outies of the R9 sandwich - they must add to 9 and only 7+2 work. The two cannot be placed in the left-most outie cell as that would make 1 impossible in both 1/9 pairs in the box.

I wish the hints had reflected this in some way.

Thanks for the hint, I was stuck exactly at the same position. The hints suggest there is a way to place every 1/9 before using r3's clue, but I've done the puzzle again and I still didn't find a solution without using your hint

i spent more than an hour with the exact same screen as you. And i was stuck with outies on R9 with 247/257, and couldn't even notice the impossible 4/5 pair: very frustrating!!!

I know this is over a year later but I'm wondering if anyone will be able to chime in in how hint 3 works. R3C4 can't be a 1/9 as it makes C7 impossible? I don't understand. I've been stuck in a similar position.
