But it is doable, I have just beated it. Had to use armory armor though. Otherwise it is almost impossible.
Caverns of the occult dragon part is insane. You have to use medusa and transformifrog magic at the very exact moments to get advantage of the i-frames and surpass the guillotines whilst freezing/transforming enemies.
But this difficulty is just borderline insanity, if i knew i would've backed up my saves and just reload PT2 and collect the missing stuff and get it over with.
PT3 is hardly enjoyable and is really taking the fun out of the game, it's totally unnecessary.
I would not bother trying to beat skulled levels in legend difficulty using normal armor. That is just a sadistic torture.
I’ve been having a fun time just trying to no death the graveyard zone on double-skull Legend with no magic. Haven’t made it past the flying burrito section with the massive purple magic group spawns yet.
I actually wish there was an arcade mode, where you are given 5 guys and you play for high score. On hardest setting of course.
and there's only 3 good weapons in this game, and like most gng's before this one, the knife is again god tier.
they could've at least make a decent variation of usable weapons, who in the hell playtested this cancer ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥?
And even so, you can still get caught offguard from time to time. I wish developers added double jump and modified rng spawning to avoid enemies to spawn right under your feets/over your head. Or at least get rid off spawning animation invincibility, or longer spawning animations time.
Also got all the orbs now and got the true ending, but ohhh my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ god what is caverns of the occult the dragon part on PT3 such a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up mess......
in shrill contrast to Lucifer part 2, where i just kept slapping him in the face and the ♥♥♥♥ went down in one go......
also true ending is kind of dissapointing, but mehhhh....
i'll just finish up the achievements and then deinstall the game untill i might get bored enough one time or so to play this piece of ♥♥♥♥ again.
IMHO there's more replay value to restart a Legend file and get through the whole game faster or dying less. I already do that for Contra III or Super Ghouls, among others. Nothing wrong with replaying good games.
Ya when I first started, on Legend Graveyard I died 189 times, using magic. After restarting, I died 4 times, not using magic. I can play this game over and over again.
I also really enjoy the first zone levels on double skull Legend, with no magic.
I'm not interested in playing a harder "3rd playthrough", and I just want to keep access to the things I've unlocked. If it matters, I'm playing on Knight and I haven't done all 14 Hell Holes yet.
Another nostalgia member berry grab on Steam rn is the new Contra Galuga by Konami. And unlike this game, no grind is in vain, you are always earning, so eventually you keep buying perks and becoming more powerful and you can just smoke the stages. I guess in this game it would be like always earning the "potential" for Umbral Bees. Like even if you don't find any you coud buy them with credits you are always earning for playing. But so many perks are nerfed. Armor Bearer requires like 3 minutes to recharge your powers. The longer you play they should cut that way down.
You can spend 10 - 16 minutes and ALMOST get to a checkpoint and mercilessly this game gives you nothing.
