Playthrough 3 on Legend?!
Who the hell at CapCom had a seizure and thought it was fun to make PT3 like PT2 but with monsters that have now even more ridiculous spawn times and skill they can use on you.

Imagine jumpings those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dragons on high speed and suddenly those crackheads start rippling their skin like the boss did, all the while those flipping jesters are having a go at you, whilst being bombared with a myriad of bats spawning up, left, bottom and right and don't forget to dodge to guillotines that now have a shutter speed of a high tech digital camera of .00001 seconds?!

Like PT2 wasn't bad enough, CrapCom decides to take a ♥♥♥♥ down your throat by adding "replay value" to the game with PT3 but instead added cancer to it and called it a day before shipping it from their headquarters in hell.

Sounds to me your enjoying the game as intended. Hope I can make it through PT1 on Legend.

Yeah, you know, they put "pick your poison" when you choose the stage. Legend with two skulls is cancer.

But it is doable, I have just beated it. Had to use armory armor though. Otherwise it is almost impossible.

Caverns of the occult dragon part is insane. You have to use medusa and transformifrog magic at the very exact moments to get advantage of the i-frames and surpass the guillotines whilst freezing/transforming enemies.

I know i probably could get through it if i try hard enough, i've died at the boss flag two times now because of some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ electric jellyfish beams still chasing my ass and knocking me into the pit.

But this difficulty is just borderline insanity, if i knew i would've backed up my saves and just reload PT2 and collect the missing stuff and get it over with.

PT3 is hardly enjoyable and is really taking the fun out of the game, it's totally unnecessary.

I think 1 and 2 skulls difficulties are aimed to use special armors. Cast armor makes you invincible, but armory armor is more balanced and allows you to beat skulled levels more evenly.

I would not bother trying to beat skulled levels in legend difficulty using normal armor. That is just a sadistic torture.

So I guess you’re not looking forward to PT 4 huh. /s

I’ve been having a fun time just trying to no death the graveyard zone on double-skull Legend with no magic. Haven’t made it past the flying burrito section with the massive purple magic group spawns yet.

I actually wish there was an arcade mode, where you are given 5 guys and you play for high score. On hardest setting of course.

i wonder why i would even look out for PT4, this game isn't hard because of an actual difficulty, it just floods you with enemies.

and there's only 3 good weapons in this game, and like most gng's before this one, the knife is again god tier.

they could've at least make a decent variation of usable weapons, who in the hell playtested this cancer ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥?

There is too much rng in this game to try normal armor highest difficulty (legend 2 skulls) runs. It is doable, but it demands lot of repetition until you memorize each spot and the best tactic to minimize rng ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

And even so, you can still get caught offguard from time to time. I wish developers added double jump and modified rng spawning to avoid enemies to spawn right under your feets/over your head. Or at least get rid off spawning animation invincibility, or longer spawning animations time.

^ Exactly this 100%

Also got all the orbs now and got the true ending, but ohhh my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ god what is caverns of the occult the dragon part on PT3 such a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up mess......

in shrill contrast to Lucifer part 2, where i just kept slapping him in the face and the ♥♥♥♥ went down in one go......

also true ending is kind of dissapointing, but mehhhh....

i'll just finish up the achievements and then deinstall the game untill i might get bored enough one time or so to play this piece of ♥♥♥♥ again.

Indeed. The further playthroughs are based on the armory armor, you are supposed to use that. And magic, of course, but I supposed anyone playing Legend has already realized it is necessary to make it (close to) fair.

IMHO there's more replay value to restart a Legend file and get through the whole game faster or dying less. I already do that for Contra III or Super Ghouls, among others. Nothing wrong with replaying good games.

Ya when I first started, on Legend Graveyard I died 189 times, using magic. After restarting, I died 4 times, not using magic. I can play this game over and over again.

I also really enjoy the first zone levels on double skull Legend, with no magic.

Sorry for the necro, but this board is dead and I really need an answer. I didn't like how when I beat the 1st playthrough, it locked me out of all the Normal levels until I reached their Shadow versions. When I beat the 2nd playthrough, will I temporarily or permanently lose access to levels from the the 1st and 2nd playthrough?

I'm not interested in playing a harder "3rd playthrough", and I just want to keep access to the things I've unlocked. If it matters, I'm playing on Knight and I haven't done all 14 Hell Holes yet.

Here is where Capcom screwed up, first of all Ghost N Goblins NEVER had a third playthrough..........Where is the special weapon on the second playthrough even? So they broke the formula...

Another nostalgia member berry grab on Steam rn is the new Contra Galuga by Konami. And unlike this game, no grind is in vain, you are always earning, so eventually you keep buying perks and becoming more powerful and you can just smoke the stages. I guess in this game it would be like always earning the "potential" for Umbral Bees. Like even if you don't find any you coud buy them with credits you are always earning for playing. But so many perks are nerfed. Armor Bearer requires like 3 minutes to recharge your powers. The longer you play they should cut that way down.

You can spend 10 - 16 minutes and ALMOST get to a checkpoint and mercilessly this game gives you nothing.
