I do have quality of life requests for the map though.
I get why it's chunky and (literally) low res: the levels are the same way, and the maps match the aesthetic. That's ok. I am still in the early game and am just wondering if there will be an item I can find that labels locked doors I haven't opened yet and items I missed?
Wishlist:
* map symbols with legend--could be color-coded, pixelated icons, I don't care--obtainable at the start or later somehow.
* I did drop down into a pit, in a part that did not have spikes, and I still took damage. Please either fill the pit more densely with spikes, make spike sprites more dense so that the pits are filled, or change the hitboxes on the those pits so we can be safe if we stand where spikes are not.
* A means to CANCEL purchasing another special weapon with a gland. I couldn't cancel after getting in the menu. The cost should really be levied when you make the transaction, not when you enter the menu. I think, anywyay.
But yeah the map needs clearer lines. Its hard to tell if theres a bit i didnt explore. A dead end hall looks the same as a hall i stopped exploring halfway down.
An attack on a game isn't an attack to your person. Don't get so emotional when someone talks about something you like, and certainly don't defend it. You don't owe the devs anything, unless you're employed by them in some fashion I guess. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
No one owes anyone anything, but that doesn't prevent you from being considerate and talking to developers in good faith.
No developer is maliciously trying to create a bad experience.
No doubt you've been burnt by other games but this has just released! Don't tell people to reduce their compassion, this is what the world needs more of, not just on the internet...
Sorry that i don't call people names like a real jerk does. Making games isn't easy, but nothing is. It is not my responsibility to know what revolves around the development. But i get to call out trash features like it is.
I didn't ask for shiny graphics, extra features etc, what i expect is the basic features that are already available in similar games 2 decades ago . Map symbols, markers, clean proper UI etc, button remapping. It's a normal 20usd game, and i expect basic features of 2 decades ago from such genre.
Instead they decided to just go with the souls-like tag to cover up all the laziest feature inside it.
I am happy so far with the game it is a lot of fun. It's just a bit depressing in tone for me as everything is in ugly grey but i enjoy it nontheless.
