Do you have a gland farming spot to recommend ?
Nah, it doesn't work like that really. As long as you have one gland, buy the boost from the mirror that gives you increased gland drops, and then just wail on all the enemies. It resets when you use a mirror though, so you'll want to go back and forth clearing out as much of the outskirts area as you can before resetting/spending another gland.
You should only need about 6-7 for the boss I'd say.
I am playing the humble version and I am honestly glad I got this for "free" because I don't think I am gonna continue playing.
The enemies are spongy already, giving them 2x health and damage is not fun.
Getting to Spite level 3 is incredibly easy.
Making the game harder just because you died is incredibly backwards. I am fine with losing bonuses or the resources I haven't spent yet but here I'll have to grind an unknown amount of time for a random item just to reverse the game to the default state.
Like no, even Dark Souls, a game you are copying from does not boost enemies when you die, you just lose the humanity/ember bonus. The entire mechanic is poorly implemented and I can see myself returning to the game or recommending it to anyone.
If I *die*, that means I'm' not *good enough* (yet).
Making the game *harder* (even a bit) at that point only turns this into a vicious circle of "be bad > die > game gets harder > die even more > repeat"
So getting to any level of spite is not a problem because you will only die if you fall into a pit by accident or do something stupid.
The game becomes really unbalanced when you hit the moonhunger debuff though, I don't remember the last time I've seen such a shift in playability in a game like this.
The main issue I have is that turning this mode off requires a random resource that you might just not have, so if you have no glands and you are not that good at the game and just got to spite level 3 by luck - you are absolutely screwed.
This mechanic is fundamentally broken and makes zero sense, if you think your game is too easy then work on balancing, not punish people who might be struggling already.
Again, take a look at any of the From games, at worst you get your max HP docked a bit, which can be a bit annoying but it doesn't affect how long it takes to kill something.
The same should happen here, either take 25% of your max HP, make the special weapon inaccessible or stop the ability to build up spite. Even doing all 3 would still be better than what is happening now.
@Gio : Doesnt look like it.
