You can't own this through Humble Choice
Some people are under the impression that you get Moonscars if you join Humble Choice.
You won't own it but you get to play it as long as you are a member.
That's not a bad thing but it's good to know. (They did this w/ Into the Pit too)
All the 'trove' games were always DRM free but now they are in a client that only works if if you pay each month.

I'm just putting this out there for the purpose of clarity.

I'm a big fan of Humble Choice. $12 a month is a great deal in my opinion.

So whats the point in even saying anything about it, I don't understand.

What I am trying to say whats the "PERK" of being a humble bundle choice member when its available everywhere on the 27th?

When you have choice subscription you don't have to buy the game, you can play it as long as you stay subbed = you can play and beat it "for free" if you are subscribed.

You might know this one.. So let's say you get Humble Choice near the end of September. Would you get October's stuff too?

No, you would only get September's games, not October's as well. It will ask you to pay early for the October subscription before it lets you download the October games.

Thanks for the info!

Thanks, you actually saved me 10 bucks. I really thought I was getting Moonscars with that sub. Now I have to wait and see what its priced tomorrow then.

Yeah, they made it confusing on purpose to trick people into dipping in, though it's still a pretty good month compared to the trash months we've had for over a year now.

Moonscars is only 20 bucks and is releasing right before a month of big hitters, so eh...

well, just delete in the folder plugins humbleapi dll and the game is drmless...

Damn this was stupid. I signed this month thinking I would receive a Steam Key on day 27/09. It was very bad for me, since I live in a country where the price conversion of the games are more expensive in the bundle than purchasing them individually...

Ive been a humble choice subscriber long before it was called choice, and i felt like Septembers offering was one of the better ones in years, regardless of the trove stuff.

You can keep the game permanently in the sense it is in your library regardless of Humble membership and can even make backups of the game. You just can't access the game outside of membership.

Note: Edited to make it more clear.

Not sure where you get that you don't keep the game. As others said above, you still get the game DRM-free. The game is just located in whatever folder you installed it to and then go to plugins and delete humbleapi dll. I tested this by completely uninstalling Humble app and moving the game to desktop and it still runs great.

They "don't get to keep the game" is because the bundle doesn't explicitedly give you the game. Just because it's DRM-free doesn't mean it's fine to just steal it, which is objectively what you're doing.

Might as well just steal it from somewhere; same difference. That's completely different from Humble adding the game permanently to your library or giving you a Steam key like you get when you actually buy it on the store or get a game in a bundle.

I'm not here to argue the morality of this but don't delude yourself into thinking you're doing anything else other than stealing the game.

Humble directly downloading into your library a permanent copy of a game purchased via Choice membership is not stealing the game as long as access restrictions are respected. In the interest of providing more objective insights on this matter, here is a summary of the applicable U.S. Copyright Laws. Adjusting downloaded game files to make it easier to access on a personal device without sharing it comes under Fair Use Copyright Law[www.copyright.gov]. And if you only use it as a single backup copy that is never shared then Section 117 of the Copyright Act[www.law.cornell.edu] would also apply. That said, I will agree that you are not allowed to "keep the game" outside of membership in the same way as you would with a Steam key. If you lose access to the Humble Games Collection via a lapse in Humble Choice membership or pause, then you are not allowed to access those games until membership is restored. Even if it isn't explicitly stated as DRM, accessing Humble Games Collection outside of membership restriction could be taken as circumventing DRM access-control, which is not allowed under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA)[www.law.cornell.edu] even though bypassing DRM copy-controls is allowed.
