protagonist is a female, Grey Irma. It is not possible to choose between m and f because all the animations are hand drawn and story is tailored specifically for this character :)

you've lost me here. I hope it will be one of those genderless female stories as I can't see myself playing a female characters. I was hoping it's Slane 2 as it looks very similar but much much better. Amazing work so far.

I've been hearing this ♥♥♥♥ for decades—did you pluck this thought out some compellation of 90's fears that have yet to be realized, or is the inclusion of a Cracker Jack gender-swap a hint that you think things are already this way?

You know you have your priorities (and reality ) straight when you give a ♥♥♥♥ about the sex of the character on the box, while ignoring the fact that the base product had been taken over by Frito-Lay and "reformulated" into something so inferior it only maintains a niche with only the most discerning of customers (read: "sports fans") long ago.

I agree, this whole debate is ridiculous. This is a single-player game. The gender of the protagonist is the dev's artistic decision. You aren't entitled to be able to choose. If your ego can't take playing an SP game as a female protagonist, it's your own problem.

What is going on with half of this thread?? There are loads of games still being made with male protagonists, games have had female protagonists for years. The first isn't stopping & the second isn't new.

Sure sometimes there's clearly some overt sociological agenda behind creative decisions Baldurs Gate 3) but I'm really not seeing it here.

There's just a ton more media in general, gaming is reaching wider audiences than ever, more girls are growing up playing games, and the majority of games are still featuring male or genderless protagonists.

If anyone's noticing more female protags, as a proportion sure it might be a bit higher, but the absolute quantity is probably more due to the fact that there are just so many more games coming out all the time now than ever before.

Compare to 20 years ago when there were maybe 2 or 3 AAA releases per year across all platforms, instead of the like 10 or 20 AAA releases, and 50 or so prominent indie projects we get now (let alone the 1000s of other yearly releases).

Ditto with movies & TV. There's not just 3-5 freeview channels & one stream of blockbuster releases now, Every movie production company has their own streaming service, entirely new multibillion dollar companies decide to do TV & film production themselves, nobody can keep up with all the high production stuff there is to watch out there if they spent all the hours in the day doing it. Out of this higher volume, yes you're seeing more female protags as well, because there's just so much stuff!
