Games heats up laptop and crashes
Game even on lowest settings heats up my (new) laptop that can run almost any game. And gives it a hard crash.

Different games have different engines and requirements and thus need different levels of usage on your CPU/GPU. The game isn't to blame for your laptop heating up, but your laptop's cooling system not being adequate enough to cool itself for the usage the game needs.

In other words, not game fault, your laptop's fault

Unreal Engine 5 is demanding. Trying Performance mode, and killing your shadows/lighting options.
I noticed this too when playing last night. Soo for now only short gaming sessions. Not feeling like toasting another laptop on a game (last time was with sims 4 before the added laptop mode). And that was a high end laptop, got fixed under waranthy though. But still...

I hope they will include a laptop mode setting just to prevent stuff like that.

The first part of this is a pure copium and untrue response. The engine itself does not make a game demanding. The rest of what you said does work tho.
