With respect, I disagree, and I'm looking forward to the release.
If you want to play OSRS why not just play OSRS, you know, the game that is regularly updated with new content? It's basically what you are asking for.
Remember when 07 released and everything mattered? Nobody was high level, the economy was healthy, the community was healthy, pking was HEALTHY. Not to mention the crazy amounts of cheaters/hackers,macroers/clienters. A new game would force the cheaters to play legit and they would not be able to find cheats so easy on a new game.
Since you disagree, can you explain to me how jagex trying to release multiple genre games is in line with their studio? I mean jagex got known making mmorpg and here they are trying to make a survival crafting game. Its just silly seeing runescape characters in a survival game. They also made idle games, minigame websites, and another game thats totally different.
Ive never seen a studio that makes alien shooters make puzzle games too..its quite weird. I think jagex should stick to their roots and just focus on runescape..and what runescape is an mmorpg. Not survival craft, not idle game, and no minigames.
I don't disagree with that. It just would be silly to create another old school style RuneScape at this point.
"Because its so old and the economy is bust." - This is why EOC failed. I'm not against the idea of a new Runescape MMO, but a new Oldschool style game is the literal definition of being stuck in the past.
As for Runescape DragonWilds, survival games are awesome and a RuneScape take on the genre sounds all good to me. There is literally no reason why they should be put off from developing other style games.
You are kinda are coming across a bit salty because I disagreed with your idea of them remaking OSRS *again*... Bonkers.
Anyways, maybe you should wait until it's released or at least see the game in action before passing judgement. I like survival games and I'm sure they will ace it with Dragonwilds.
I really dont care if they make other games, but the should have done more with what worked in the first place. All of there other games are mediocre. And they havnt released any new runescape game. Runescape is obviously super successful. But here they are focusing all their efforts on weird side games. A new runescape would obviously be hype and everyone would atleast try it.
If people stopped making things they were good at then this world would be way less advanced then we are now.
People didnt make sunscreen for it to wash away in the ocean. People made it so we can then further increase the use by figuring out we need to make it waterproof. Then people were getting rashes so they made sure the sunscreen was safe. See how we dont just make one thing and stop?
Why is runescape like that? They are billionaires probably and can easily fund a new runescape mmorpg. I personally probably paid 1k or more of membership. Just me paid jagex 1 grand. But where is the output? Fresh updates monthly great they are still working on their game. But they are billionaires. If I had skill and ability and money I would make the greatest mmorpg ever.
Anyway not salty, you feel how you feel. I feel how I feel, I dont think once I put you personally down or anything?
Im not really putting this game down. It has nothing to do with this game. But the generalization of the fact they are releasing a whole bunch of weird side games..instead of focusing on what they are good at.
Personally I feel this way, because im burnt out of runescape 1 and 2. I played both, had my fun. Played for years quit for years played for years on cycle. A fresh new runescape that I dont know that is an entirely different world of runescape with a different spawn point then lumbridge...hell yeah I would love that.
It just appeared on your first post that you wanted them to remake Oldschool Runescape again lol, like we need to do a wayback machine to to 2007 spaghetti engine again.
I'm sure a RuneScape style game in a survival setting will also work very well. Give it a try.
Interestingly the lead developer for DragonWilds used to be the lead developer for OSRS. 🤯
Something tells me theres something or someone stopping people from making a new rs.
I would definitely love to see Falador up to scale in today's gaming. They literally have the world, quests, areas and everything else already laid out for them so no need to think to hard about that part but bringing that world to life.
Honestly in my opinion, they don't even need to make it an MMO also, just make it where people can host worlds with world settings (such as increase exp or pvp enabled) and they are set. The twist I can see them doing too is make quests cooperative and scale according to the party. I'd love to see that.
