RuneScape: Dragonwilds

RuneScape: Dragonwilds

Why not MMO but 1-4 game?
Market is flooded with 1-4 surv-build coops. Who cares about another Valheim? Why not make it with player-driven economy as original Runescape? Shame, trash.

Maybe because they already have 2 version of the MMO.
Well I'm super excited for the release. I think the concept is cool.
The market is also saturated with mmos. I've never played Runescape, but this has captured my attention.

Every genre is saturated..but there very few mmorpgs released in the last 10 years that you can consider good and successful. If this is the attitude everyone had then everything that sucked would never get better.

they can always delete rs3 its not like its doing well anyways, besides MMO players have been asking for a more modern mmo for years

Deleting any MMO will cause outrage from the players invested in it. Nobody wants to see their ~20 year old account get deleted, even if they aren't using it much.

New World tried to be a modern RuneScape but it did the same thing that destroyed RS3... focused on combat over skilling and economy. You could max out the skills in New World in like a week or two of playing, and at that point it's just ARPG But With Open World #327.

In all honesty, MMORPGs are the hardest thing to design in the current gaming market. It needs to simultaneously introduce new mechanics that players like, while also feeling familiar enough to be appealing. It needs to simultaneously let people play together to feel like an MMO, but people also hate having to LFG so it has to have matchmaking, but players also hate matchmaking that either matches you with players of a different skill/investment level or that has too long of a queue time or too high requirements (depending on which player you ask). On top of all this, it has to LAUNCH with enough content that players feel they can sink hundreds of hours into it, WITHOUT feeling like meaningless grind...

I'm not saying that other gamers are easy to please, but MMORPG gamers are the hardest to please. By far.

MMOs are full of problems that take years to fix + a community that flames each other the whole time. I actually welcome an open world survival crafting game taking place in the Rs franchise.

If there would at least be joining other people's games like in Diablo 2 that would be awesome. If there's anything to do that is.

People still play MMOs in 2025?

So tired of survival games, you know what is really lacking nowadays co-op dungeon crawlers...

why wouldn't they? what other genre has 1000's of people interacting in one persistent world?
MMO's are on their death beds, they are dying off as no one wants to play them and get nickled and dimed to death anymore.. Also mmos are really toxic community wise..
