2) Mounts would not be needed if the amount of loadstones which can be placed are unlimited (not verified so I could be wrong. Place these at vaults, key farming areas or POI's and you can teleport all over the map.
Even if there was a limit on placeable loadstones, as we progress into the higher zones, the need for resources from the lower zones becomes less. Just destroy a low zone loadstone and place in a new higher area.
3) We already have a skill for that - Bark to Bones (activate skills, target tree, tree becomes bones). Killing cows and sheep give plenty of bones.
4) The game lets you know if you can harvest wood or stone, when your mouse is over the item, the name of said item is shown. If no name shows = not harvestable. No breaking of immersion here.
5) Fishing - seen many requests for this, maybe something we see in the future. However, all current sources of water don't even get up to our characters waist, so not even deep enough to swim. The water sources are more like streams and ponds. So the assortment of fish would fairly limited. Maybe if larger bodies of water were added like rivers, lakes, oceans were added fishing could be quite valuable.
6) Sailing - would need lakes and oceans added to make this possible, what we have now is not deep enough even for a canoe.
7) Buffs - The duration of the buffs would have to be worthwhile versus the cost to obtain those buffs. Currently there is 3 foods that each provide a different buff, each lasts 15 minutes. Now you do get 3 per craft which is decent, but the resources needed per craft I feel is on the high side, especially when you factor in how hard capped we are with how much weight we can carry. That equals a lot of trips back and forth especially for the resources in the higher zones even when using loadstones. All that combined and the 15 minute duration doesn't seem long enough for the work to obtain the buff. I've done less in other games for double to triple the duration as a comparison without tweaking any game settings or using mods.
There are several things you probably left out due to them being discussed ad nauseum already that I like to see also A) Slower food and water drain B) Less frequent hunts, warband raids and dragon attacks C) Better functionality of the health potions D) The ability to cancel an action for better evasive maneuvering E) An adjustment to item weights or someway to increase our maximum carry weight, having a larger backpack as part of this could be implemented to achieve this or even remove item weight altogether if backpack expansion will not happen.
I'm sure there is other things but all I can think of for now.
Mounts are not actually needed like several others said, you can build unlimited lodestones which negates the need to ride a unicorn or terrorbird to get around.
As much as I really want to see prayer skill + fishing and all other runescape content mithril to runite added. It won't exactly happen until months later. Besides the Devs are on Discord more than they reply on steam discussions.
Hey Ludwig, appreciate the detailed reply — great to see thoughtful discussion like this. Just wanted to bounce back with some of my thoughts point by point:
1) Jumping:
Totally agree — not being able to hop over knee-high rocks or ledges feels a bit off. A small boost in jump height would smooth that out without breaking balance. Just a quality-of-life thing that adds to world flow.
2) Mounts vs Loadstones:
Loadstones are super useful for fast travel, no doubt — but I personally prefer exploring the world actively, not just skipping from point to point. That’s where mounts or movement magic could shine.
Mounts could also have their own inventory, which would help offset weight limits and reduce the number of trips needed. Fast travel is great for some — but I’d love the option to travel faster, not instantly.
3) Bark to Bones vs Mob Drops:
Bark to Bones is a clever mechanic, and I use it — but it shouldn’t replace traditional methods. Sometimes I don’t want to spend my wood or burn runes. Adding a skeleton or undead mobs that drop bones would make sense, especially if a Prayer skill is introduced later. The two systems could work side-by-side just fine. Think skeleton warriors/archers/wizards, bone golems, and undead dragons
4) Immersion and Resource Visuals:
Yeah, the tooltip helps identify harvestable resources — but I still think it breaks immersion when I approach a swamp log or big stone that looks interactive and isn’t. It’s not identical to the real nodes, but it’s visually convincing enough that it feels out of place when nothing happens. Doesn’t ruin the game, just throws off the RP flow a bit.
5) Fishing:
I’ve seen that argument about shallow water — but I still think Fishing could work just fine.
Think Minecraft: you don’t need deep water to have a rewarding fishing system. A mechanic where ripples or splash effects appear in shallow ponds would totally work. Players could interact with those spots to fish, with different fish types based on biome or rarity.
It’s more about the system design than the water depth.
6) Sailing (Kinda a Joke, But Kinda Not):
Sailing was a lighthearted suggestion, but the real point is about randomly generated islands. If the devs ever expand the world with ocean edges or hidden zones, having some way to reach uncharted islands could be a game-changer. Whether it’s through boats, portals, or some magical event, it’d add a layer of exploration and long-term replayability.
7) Buffs, Weight Limits & Storage:
Buffs are useful, but 15 minutes feels a little short for the amount of materials needed — especially with how much back-and-forth is required due to weight caps.
Not sure if everyone knows, but there’s actually a portable chest spell in-game already — it helps a lot with inventory management mid-run. That said, it doesn’t fully solve the issue.
Having mounts with storage or backpack upgrades would still be a big win for anyone doing extended farming trips.
The more inventory solutions we have, the smoother the gameplay becomes — spell-based, mount-based, or gear-based.
On Prayer Buffs:
If Prayer gets added, I imagine it would come with a new resource bar, kind of like prayer points in RuneScape. When it runs out, you lose the buff — classic mechanic, easy to understand, and opens up strategy in combat. Could tie into blessings, curses, or even boss fight dynamics.
About the stuff I left out.
A.) On the food and water:
I personally think they should give a bit more benefit per use. I don’t really mind the drain rate — food and water are all over the map — but slowing it slightly or making them restore more would help. Just a small boost would improve the pacing without removing challenge.
B.) Getting hunted It could get tuned down a little but i'd like base defenses they would attack first and that could hurt them back. and yeah the dragon is annoying I end up just pausing the game and saying i am stuck when it shows up
C.) More potions maybe even a herb-lore skill for it. I have two accounts in RS3 with over 99 herblore so I feel the pain here. bigger health potions, armor potions, stamina potions and If prayer is added they could add prayer potion to restore prayer points
D.) Yes 100% and it would be nice to adjust your angle mid swing. would make combat feel so much smother
E.) I've kinda already addressed this. but yeah more light clothing to increase your carry weight. Making things lighter will go a long way. adding more backpack slots. I didn't mention it in my notes I forgot but a quiver slot to put your arrows in. Not sure how I forgot that I was tired last night.
Also they could add summoning. It could be used to add mounts, beasts of burden, and attack or tank summons.
Final Thought:
And yeah, I didn’t mention some of the more commonly discussed stuff (like raid frequency or potion tweaks) because it’s already been said a hundred times. I just wanted to bring up a few newer angles that might be worth a look.
Thanks again for the reply — really enjoyed reading through your take on it all. Game’s got a ton of potential, and it’s cool seeing the community give thoughtful feedback like this.
Hey Himmelbees, I get where you’re coming from — but I think you may have missed the tone of my post a bit.
First off, Sailing was never a serious demand for ships in shallow water — it was a lighthearted way to introduce the idea of randomly generated islands or expanded world content. Whether that’s done through portals, magic, boats, or whatever else, the point was to spark ideas around replayable exploration, not rowboats.
As for mounts, yeah, loadstones are great, and I use them too — but they serve a different purpose. Loadstones let you teleport between set points. Mounts would improve moment-to-moment movement and immersion, especially when exploring off-path or farming. Plus, mounts with inventory slots could help solve weight limit issues, which teleporting doesn’t fix.
And just to clarify — the devs are active on both Discord and Steam. I’ve seen them reply here. Sharing feedback on Steam discussions is still valid and helps more casual players or non-Discord users contribute.
I’m not under any illusion that all RS-style content will be added immediately. That’s why the thread was titled “Player Notes & Suggestions” — not “Here’s what you owe us.” It's meant to get ideas out there, see what resonates, and give the devs options if they choose to expand in that direction.
Side note: Just a heads-up — If you’ve got ideas of your own, cool — throw them in. But there's no need to shut down community feedback just because it’s forward-thinking. shutting down ideas with sarcasm or acting like people shouldn’t post feedback here isn’t really helpful to the community. Discussions like these are how games improve. You might not agree with every idea, and that’s fine — but let’s keep the tone constructive instead of dismissive. There’s room for all kinds of input here.
I would just like to add along with the jumping complaint, to add vaulting. Again, a knee high obstacle shouldn't stop us dead in our tracks. Be able to vault small things would allow better traversal of the environment. Maybe even be able to climb ledges (think similar to New World).
I'm sorry, when was the last time the devs were active on steam? Only during release week on discussions?? Just because the devs post news posts on steam doesn't mean they are active on steam discussions started by the playerbase. Did you see how many posts by the playerbase there are on discussions? How many of them did the devs reply to and when was the last time they did so?
I never said anything about RS-Style content being added immediately.
I'm all for mounts carrying extra inventory, although it makes more sense for BOB (beast of burden) familiars to solve weight limit issues if summoning skill ever gets added at one point.
There are plenty of other options for replayable exploration outside of sailing that the devs might in mind. The mounts idea seems more fun and slightly less work to implement for replayable exploration than adding an entire big mechanic and location like the procedurally generated islands you mentioned. Replayable exploration via moment to moment movement overall is more appealing and more likely to be considered depending on Dev budget.
Thank you for your understanding and don't worry it's not sarcasm.
