If you use 2h melees you do get punished for blocking, and you probably want to invest into parry practicing, but it's tedius and unless you're pulling 120 FPS constantly it's janky on the best of days.
As for enemies with magic hitting you like the hammer of thor essentially... You're wearing metal armor, so enemies SHOULD be hitting you harder and easier.
Wolves are just a PITA unless you pre-emptively block and then do a 3-4 hit combo on them.
The current combat system for melee definitely favors enemies AI grouping up on you and beating/clawing your face in/off, so only engage at most 2 at a time.
If you see 3 enemies or more, either run or engage them with ranged/magic. Such as air runes knockdown, or the crystal bows special attack.
Not discounting your experience btw, just trying to throw out some tips for the way the game is currently running to help you slay the dragon and get your moneys worth from the game as is.
Holy wall of text, how about some paragraphs to make it easier to read.
2. Use Tempest Shield when up against the druids. Their homing magic hits you more or less all the time. Also never go without anti poison pots on you, there's also this dragon coming at you all the time.
3. Stamina is terrible to manage yes, and there's animation lock as well when using items. Going up against multiple enemies at your stage can be rough. Sometimes you just have to die.
Bonus tip: Get the crystal. The special attack is very good to have against multiple enemies. The quest isn't too difficult and takes place in the fractured plains.
I got 2300 hours in RS3 ironman, does that count?
But it is better then in Mediaval Dynasty or Valheim on the other hand.
I hope they will improve it in the early access period, so it will more dynamic and less clunky in the future. And npc combat will be less "my spells and arrows have an aim bot and homing missile skill".
You clearly have never played any of them.
