RuneScape: Dragonwilds

Armour and weapon designs
Love the game but it doesn't really feel like runescape more like it's all a big easter egg. The armour and weapon designs doesn't really fit with either OSRS or the later overhauled models in RS3 I think it was. It's not like they're poorly made it just doesn't fit the RS vibe, same as the anti-dragon shield not even being remotely close to the SQ shield it should be.

While I like the game a lot it takes me out of the "It's supposed to be in the RS universe" that they're trying to push it as. Like either drop the runescape name and remove the rs references and go for a new IP or actually go full on RS with the designs adding the trims black, adamant and rune armours, the proper saradomin, guthix & Zamorak armours, adding the god swords, skill capes at 99, scimitars and dragon armour instead of doing some weird middle ground where they want a realistic low fantasy vibe but still trying to push it as a runescape game, it feels like it's hurting the games potential more than anything.

I don't see it hurting anything. The designs are pretty cool IMO.
The ADS for example is a mix of RS2 and RS3 designs. It has a pseudo shape of the RS3 version but the shield emblem of RS2's.
I think going with a more unique design inspired by something between RS2 and RS3 was a good idea for a new lick of paint and a fresh adventure.

I mean even the Wise Old Man is basically just a new-version of the RS2/OSRS model, and Vanakka is a new version of the RS3 model.
I do hope we get some more iconic-looking pieces, I really want to rock the "buying gf" look.

You've basically mentioned everything that is even close to resembling anything from RS which is kind of my point. They could remove all friendly npc's or replace them with someone new, change the design on the ADS and some other things like the runes, do some name changes and it'd have absolutely nothing to do with runescape anymore as anything that would tie the game together with RS would be gone and it really wouldn't change the game at its current stage much at all. I'm pretty sure they could remove all traces of RS themed items and npc's in about a week or two patch it and they'd have a completely new IP.

Are you talking about the Ornament Kit version of the ADS? If not I have no clue what version of the ADS you're talking about and even that horrible version is better than what we got in DW.

A new lick of paint is what we got going from OSRS to RS3 they should've stuck with the RS3 designs rather than trying to reinvent the wheel going too close to generic minimalistic artsyle low fantasy survival game.

They have so many armour sets, items and names that would be great nods to the mmo and made the game really feel like it was part of the universe while putting a survival twist on it allowing for even more tiers but they didn't go for any of it instead making everything from scratch which has made it kinda feel like a bait and switch. Like how did we not have the bronze and iron armour? How is there not full helm in the game? Gold trims would've been an amazing use for the gold resource, just adding the cross to the iron shield would've made it the classic kiteshield. It's a genuine shame they refuse to use their own assets that would make the game so much better.
