RuneScape: Dragonwilds

RuneScape: Dragonwilds

Dragonwilds over hesting GPU.
so I have a decent setup rx 6950 xt, 32 GB ram, Ryzen 7 5800.
I can run most games just fine even the new oblivion remaster in high no issue.
Dragonwilds however sent my PC into recovery mode right out the gate. once I did get it running it melts my GPU at 106 to 111C° on high settings at 1440p. this doesn't seem normal to me. any advice?

the game inst optimised, they still have some work to do. maybe drop it down to 1080p with medium graphics to help your gpu.
im playing on a RTX 3060ti and im not having any issues
GTX1650, runs smoothly
I dropped my settings to medium. I have a 3080, 32GB and ryzen 9 5600 and it was still maxing out my graphics card on high settings. With medium I sit at ~60-65% usage, which is fairly typical for being mid-game for me. I am playing on 2k
Your cooling solution is not adequate for your Computer.

The game may be causing your GPU to run harder then usual but the cooling solution in your PC has to be capable of handing your Components under full load.
sounds like your GPU needs new thermal paste and probably pads on the VRM

thought so as well I did get it to run at very low 60 fps at 4k or medium at 1080p. but even then it's like 85C° it may be time to open it up and apply new paste and pads

yes I know that is part of the problem. are there any radiator setups for gpus like they have for CPUs? I'm not confident enough to install a liquid cooling system.

Personally i would start with case design and fans, GPU's should be able to keep them selves cool with proper air flow design, you want to make sure its getting fresh air from outside and the case is properly exhausting the hot air out.

Some things like make sure your ambient room temp is good, don't set it too close to walls, Don't trap your case into a spot with restrictive air flow, if its being bottom air fed make sure your not on thick carpet and or use some blocks to raise it up.

Adding Liquid cooling to a GPU is not fun even if they made a GPU AIO you'd have to disassemble the card down to the board.

so I found the problem... it was i. I'm the culprit. few mo th ago I had fan issues so I replaced the GPU fan. while doing so I decided to replace the thermal pads and paste. I forgot to take the plastic off two of the pads. yes I have been humbled. can't help but laugh at myself. it's now running epic 4k 120fps staying around 85 to 90 C° which is acceptable for amd

At least YOU were able to figure it out and get a laugh about it, that's funny.
