In response o GafferGragz, not a bad posit, but they need to increase the variety of map icons to be placed.
1. The icons as is are huge. When looking at the Lodestone map, Lodestone icons tend to cover a large portion of what you're looking at in that are. If they were resized for the map or optional, then it wouldn't be much a problem.
2. We have blank maps because we can make our own markers. I tend to mark Bases with house icons, Material gathering points of interest with a Leaf, and Lodestones of any other place not linked with a base with a Rock icon (it looks like a lodestone so why not).
3. Knowing where they are is only useful if you're about to use one. After you've gotten a sufficient lodestone network up and running, knowing where they are comes naturally without having them specifically marked on the map. You tend to learn your frequent points of interest and whether or not you have a lodestone there. I'm to a point that I know the entire map and don't even bring the map up much anymore. I know where all my bases are, all my lodestones, and every individual gathering point I use frequently.
What we really need for map markers is Quest start locations, places where you get quests you haven't completed or even started yet.
2. Easy have a switch this feature on!
3. I am running around the Blighted Swamp and can not see easy, I really need to know where the loadstone is!
it does not matter that you can place a marker on the map
portals should be shown on the map purely for consistency reason because clicking on a portal shows all other portals
