Stop complaining about thirst and hunger, literally just use Bones to Peaches
For hunger you literally have bones to peaches spell. No need to cook meat.

For thirst just make drinks, you get so much bones and animal teeth for evasion and ferocious drinks. You can also combine clean water and dwellberries. These replenish thirst way more than regular water.

People just want an easy game that holds their hand.

It's not that people want an easy hand-holdy game, it's that the water and food drain rates are a bit egregious. I don't mind having to manage hunger and thirst, but if it is going to drain this fast at start, give me an option to level my food and water to hold more or slow the drain rate. I think lowering the drain rate at base would probably be good for the game and add more enjoyment. The more time you have to spend gathering and cooking food, the less time you are going out exploring and fighting mobs/gathering new mats.

+1 to emphasize this one of the chunks of your bar depletes roughly every 5 minutes

This is why i like the way thirst and hunger is, you can constantly have some sort of drink buff active

I literally just eat 2 meaty/hearty stews and drink 2 redberry/dwellberry infusions and I'm good to go til nightfall and I have to hit the sack. It's literally not that bad. And spending a day gathering meat, onions, dwellberries, and water gives you enough food/water for about 10-20 in game days. I don't understand why people say it's that bad. I don't even carry food and water with me unless I'm going into a vault.

I must be one of the few folks that are literally just consuming copious amounts of red berries and dirty water.
No need to cook, no need to boil it, just consume it as is, though do limit water to 6 chugs so you don't suddenly lose 50 health from the taint.

The thirst and hunger meters serve no purpose in the game. The entire system should be overhauled or removed. Defending it because it's easy to counter-act is the wrong move, I think, because it's a bad system regardless of how easy it is to manage.

I dislike it for how idiotically excessive it is. Having to drink 8 - 12 cups of whatever to not be dehydrated and having to eat 6 - 8 meals to satiate your hunger all day is ridiculously.
