Some of the building is UGH!

I know it'll take some getting used to, but some of the mechanics are annoying - like being stuck at ground level while trying to build anything above.

I put up four walls and wanted to place a roof and ugh! Really wish you were able to get a top down view. Just not very intuitive at all, at least as far as my brain is concerned.

Love everything else though.

What do you mean? You have go into build mode to build anything, don't you? Or is there some other option when you're in it? I placed flooring, bed, chest, and craft table no problem, but there's no change to the approach when placing roofs (that I found, anyway).

I did finally manage to get a roof on, but didn't like it, lol.

There is a spell you learn that gives you a forge mode for building, It's radial to the character however.

Suggesting to someone to use a magic spell they may not have access doesn't help them. You are given a quest very early in the game to build a shelter, a player will not have put in enough time to have unlocked that spell or acquired a staff yet.

Well, to be fair, it's good to know. I don't yet have the spell, or staff, but I didn't even know there was a "forge mode" spell, so it did help. Now I'm anxious to get it and try it out. No worries.

Yea check your spells by pressing P and you can see if you have the spell and what it takes to unlock it. It's the first Construction spell called Eye of Oculus.
