Lightning should be removed
as the title says, lightning needs to be removed. it wouldnt be so bad, but it targets you nearly EVERY TIME you are in a spell animation. during combat is just as bad. youre already struggling when you get into this zone because youre fighting lvl 4 monsters with lvl 3 bronze gear while trying to find iron nodes to mine. i have never been so genuinely upset with an area of a game like i have been with the lightning in this game. ive killed the dragon, have good armor/weapons and potions, but the lightning in that area still makes me not want to ever step foot in that zone again.

It's not so bad usually. You tend to learn to hold onto some stamina for a quick dodge. Treat it like an enemy attack, anticipate it's coming, and sure enough you'll get into the groove of dodging it when it does.
After you get T4 armor, it tends to just not really affect you. Barely does damage if it hits you, plus you can lure enemies into it for some free damage.

if you have the cooking range unlocked you can make wild pies and they give you a shock resistence itll make the lighting not as bad also if your looking for iron there is a cave on the left of the map with about 5 or 6 nodes in it safe from the lighting.
its just not fun, its not a fun mechanic, its annoying and stupid and serves literally no purpose at all. lighting only targets you, I can see if it hit a random area, but it only targets you, its like the clouds are enemies now aiming at you...

It does hit random areas lol, every now and then it targets you. I've seen it target a group of enemies at a distance from me before.
I have never been bothered by flashing lights in games, but as soon as I got to the highlands, I went oh boy this is gonna be a deal breaker for sensitive eyes. I can't think of another game I've played where it was so constant, so overkill. Even after I leave the highlands, and are back in the fractured plains, my screen continues to flash and flash.
On a side note, but related, the storms in the highlands switch on the second you are in the highlands with zero transition, like a light switch. That with the lightning bolts hitting you 100% whenever you are actively mining really comes across as quite cheesy. The game has potential, but I keep running into aspects of the game that makes me question these devs experience in building games. All early release games are rough and unfinished, but I'm talking stupid stuff, scratch your head in disbelief stuff.

I don't know why people have such problems with the lightning lol. They don't even target every shot. You just notice when they target you because you aren't paying attention to the rest of the area around you.

Several bolts of lightning are always going off at any given time. Some are hitting other enemies, some are hitting nothing, some target you. You just have to be ready to press dodge when you see the blue surrounding you. You have plenty of time to react, they give you a good 2-3 seconds to move/dodge. If you use Dodge it's literally an i-frame. You don't even have to time it perfectly. It's so stupid easy that I only get hit with lightning when I'm not even caring about it (which is more often nowadays since T4 armor dampens it so much it's easy to not care.Only dodging it when enemies are on me)

The percentage of getting targeted could be cut down to 1/4 of what it is and that would be fine for me. One thing the lightning DID do for me was to start learning to use the Dodge/Roll Button... That really helped later in some of the harder fights.

It would be nice in the coding to make it so you could not be targeted when in the middle of a fight with some of the more difficult goons in that zone... ( Those goons got so much payback, when I got some of the better gear/weapons, btw... now I AM the lightning in that zone.. haahahah.. ahem.. ok.. that was 'overkill'... hehe...

actually i found it usefull if im in that area for awhile or trying to base there, turn up the gamma since most of the time im there its dark and does kind of drown out the flashes. But yeah the lightning just chases you eveywhere you go. Ive tried dodging and im just not good enough to dodge that kind of bullet. Just not fast enough to anticipate its next strike.

i didn't think it was that bad, but I've always been good at getting good. have you heard of the new animal crossing game coming out?
i see many people giving me suggestions on how to make the lighting hurt less... that is not the issue. as i said in my original post, i have beat all of the content that is available to us at this moment in time. the damage the lightning deals is not the issue i have with it. its the consistence at which it targets and hits you that is annoying. just like the dragon, hunting parties and base raids. they at least toned those down right away.
i think some of my issue is from playing with one or two other people on my server. not sure if the lightning consistency or strike chance is turned up with more people. the little i have explored there by myself, the experience was not as bad as i remembered
Removed? No. Changed? Yes. I agree it can be annoying sometimes in it's current state.
I agree with the original post. I don't care about you "get good" people. The lightning is not a fun mechanic. Just tonight I was struck by the lightning and I ran to a cliff wall to check the map and less than 10 seconds after the first strike, I was hit again as I was trying to zoom the map in. That's another super stupid annoyance in this game. The zooming in on the map is like it is in super slow motion.
It's a good game, but they seem to have created multiple annoying aspects that is definitely going to lose them players.
Lightning should also not target you while you're talking to the quest npc in the area. Whatever he had to say I missed because of lightning and a poorly timed hunting party spawn (before they nerfed the rate). That goes for any quest npc though. Delay the enemy spawn until the player has stopped talking. I missed several npc dialogues because of having to skip through them or die and head back.

They apparently had voice actors. So much for hearing that.

The frequency of the lightning strikes is far too high. There is no animation cancelling, so for others to say dodge roll away or pay attention to the surroundings doesn't help when you're stuck in animation of a melee attack or magic spell casting or mining.

Now factor all of that and add in dragon attack, being hunted plus all the regular mobs that are around without animation cancelling, just leads to one big ball of frustration.
