Does the game force you to progress?

I bought the game this evening after work and currently playing drunk. Im only in the level 2 area. i made a nice little shack and I have what the area can give me for the best gear, im doing a vult and I come back to my home to get raided not hunted but raided. I thought had it done and over but then a dragon just vomits acid all over. I call it done for tonight but I feel the game is forcing me to progress fast, I want to relax and take my time.

The game unfortunately has really bad thirst/hunger, raid and dragon attacks. It's very unbalanced for a game but it is early access. I like the game but they are the biggest issues. Hopefully they will fix them. Some people don't have issues but the game forces you to constantly do things, like gathering water/food because it drains so quick, and having to gear yourself up so quick as raids are unpredictable. You can even try and clear a place that's tough and they'll suddenly appear. Same for dragon attacks. I thought same as I was doing a quest and suddenly I get spewed on with acid and I'm like, I have a level 1 bone knife and I'm already having dragons trying to kill me lol.

I quit to menu to pause.
Build on water so the mobs have to run through it during raids.
Use fire runes and magic staff to AOE the hordes in the water.
When the dragon comes, run away from base. Though I have yet to have the acid destroy anything. The hordes are the ones that destroy foundations. So I built a extra foundation ring to shield my base.
Do vaults and use cores to make teleports and place at new areas as you explore. All items can be deconstructed and rebuilt, materials on ground dont despawn but can be covered by building pieces.

Set up your base at the start spawn just east of the tent (from Doric???) There is no dragon and the raids are all lvl 1. Good luck :)
