RuneScape: Dragonwilds

30 hours Review from one of the Runescape OG's
Okay let's start with the fact that the game has a really good potential in terms of Idea's in the future, with the great Runescape world.

Runescape is a unique game, with his own story, own mechanic of upgrading, leveling, and much more... that we all love.

If they put the name of Runescape on that game, has a Runescape fan, I think it is going to be important to respect some of the mechanic and the leveling system of the game. for example, why is it possible for me to wear an abyssal whip when I'm wearing iron equipment? it doesn't make any sense for me, cuz an abyssal demon is a huge iconic monster from level 85 slayer. You should not be able to wear a 4 hours iron poop armor, with the great abyssal whip, or staff of light and crystal bow. there's a lot of things to get before that and here's why it scares me a lot... I hope they don't jump to fast on conclusion with the content, it is suppose to take time, to have fun while getting it.. right ? It is nice to get this type of weapons because it is hard to get.

With all the content they can get from the franchise : all the iconic bosses, all the quests, all the cities, barrows brothers etc, I really hope they won't pass by these type of pillar for runescape. I'm not saying that they have to copy paste Runescape on a survival game .., but I hope there will be some more good iconic content that we all enjoyed and not just dragons on a brand new island, which will have an end real quick.

To all the OG's and the newbies of Runescape.... #peace

I... think you're going to be disappointed.

It's unlikely that they're going to be bringing a lot over from the mainland. Maybe one or two more characters (I doubt Evil Dave or Bob from Bob's Axes are doing anything important), but overall I wouldn't expect to see much.

Mostly because they have two games to balance.

All of the current characters exist in both MMO's at once, and while it's clear from dialogue that Jagex is still pushing the RS3 cannon, they also can't do anything too overt without losing their OSRS crew if they do. Even monsters, pulling, for example, the Glacor, to Dragonwilds would be incredibly difficult. RS3's Glacors are minibosses with mechanics I detest. OSRS is still afk to the core. If they want to bring them in, what do they chose?

Which one is the favorite?

So, I'm not surprised to see so little from the main franchise here, because of their careful balancing act; and while I'd love to see a few of my favorite characters...

Well, I think I'm going to be disappointed.

I think they will bring alot from their RS Franchise to this game however it is alot different from the MMO, a survival game cannot compare to the scope of an MMO and in this case an MMO with alot of story and background as RS i think stuff in this game wont be as time consuming as the MMO but we will see alot from RS in this game.

They are setting a stage for what to come, and I guess the avatar is not a 'noob' out of the starting gate bc progress at start is almost too fast. There are going to be more lands and more dragons to fight and the only additional character mentioned so far is 'the death'.
I've missed his puns from the start of Dragonwilds.

I also feels it odd to have access to the god tier weps of RS2, but thats many years ago, Runescape elite weps today is not mentioned at all yet (afaik) so it do not feel to early. And good luck beating the swamp demon with bronze armour and weps but I'M sure some players will manage it. Some claim to have done in the boss dragon after around 20 hours play so killing the abyssal demon in bronze outfit sounds feasible.
Back in the good old days, ppl (mostly pk addicts) even did get fire caps to have an edge in pvp wearing bronze bc of super low def lvl.

PS: After lvl99 in all RS2.5 skills I still failed to kill Jad bc I have 10 buttered thumbs.
I will not be able to tank that abyssal demon if it was for my life, I do to many blunders all the time XD but the game is fun I love the skiller part of it and hope that contractual slayer tasks (and some bonus gear) will arrive after a while.

Its to bring nostalgia for those who played rs back in the days. I get the argument though 100%.

Me too. I fear but also look forward to what the elite gear will become after this roadmap is completed.
I also fear that things are too easy acquired for the advanced successful players.
I also notice that the lvl of gear helps a lot if you are a clumsy player, so I will grind out the skills needed for the best stuff we can access by skilling alone. The recipes seem to be held by the 'dungeon' statues and in semi hidden rooms
