Pause while solo
when playing by myself, really wish there was a way to pause, am i missing something?

i started with a friends only world to play by myself the first time, just in case. eventually realised each time i loaded in i could change it and was getting frustrated that whenever i had to step away i had to quit or risk being attacked by the ever so frequent dragon and goblin attacks everyone is complaining about.

i can understand why you wouldnt allow pausing at all in a friends/public server, but when playing in solo mode, the game should definitely have some way to pause. at the very least when bringing up the game menu (ESC). i would personally like it to pause in the map and other menus too, but i can sympathize with game design reasons for preventing pausing (most obvious being not wanting to block crafting/cooking/etc when looking at the map).

Agree, i only play these types of games in single player mode and with having a wife and child etc can be frustrating not being able to pause.

Agreed
The 'pause' is to exit to login. Its bc you are not safe anywhere and even more so if you host a server. Suck it in and move on. For me that only play solo and have no Epic acc, its stupid that I cant use the 'Pause' button -.- For any server participation, only exit to login can work as a safe space. This is how things are implemented now, if enough player find this problematic I'm sure that things will change. Probably. Maybe.

Agreed, in solo mode hitting the ESC button (assuming no other menus open) should pause the game.

True one can be conscious/intentional about setting aside playing time - but if the FedEx guy rings the bell or you get a phone call, not to mention bio breaks, etc - there's NO reason in solo mode not to be able to pause.

Yup. And don't forget the coffee runs :D
The runs is like this:
need more coffee so sprint to put the kettle on and sprint back
forgotten you have put the kettle on, run, turn on kettle, quicly spoons some instant in a cup so heavily used its utterly black inside from coffee stains. Run back.
forgotten you have put the kettle on oh my I'm parched , run, turn on kettle, quicly spoons some instant in a cup (again, you will find that out later)
sprint back to cp
finally you hear and register that the kettle is bubbling (one ear with sound from game this time) sprint to kitchen, add more instant (yup thats me) add the boiling water and walk fast to cp juggling the cup.
Sit down and sip some Furiously Intense Coffee and enjoy the following caffeine kick.

That's how coffee runs are executed to perfection.
You kids have a small fridge stacked with energiser drinks at the cp (I know I have a son) :D

For a break, just log back to character screen? Then you also got a save. If you back from the pause my game load back in about 15 seconds - so no big deal?

Agreed. For now, as a workaround we have a place that we call the "AFCave". To the SE of The Old Man's location in Bramblewood is a bramble-covered cave entrance that is across a short ravine/hole. It's fairly close to the southern edge of the map there. You can either 1) (risky method) super jump over to it, or 2) (safe method) build a walkway there. Stagger a stair to the first platform so that mobs can't access it. Once across, there's some brambles in the way. cut that down with an axe, and it's safe inside. We built a teleporter there so that we can access it easily. Also, there's a ghost in the back, so be careful where you put things.

I've noticed that also, Been my home base the last 35 hours or so of play.
Now I seek refuge from the periodic poison shower at a place close to the start of the game.
I seem to be shower free and the raiders are all level one (and semi concussed to boot).

In the time you teleport to the cave and later back, you can also log out to the main screen and log back, when you will continue?

And logging back from main menu, you will be exactly there where you left and not at a teleporter. So mostly way quicker as your afk cave.

I think the reason you have no pause is because you are still hosting a server, even in solo. Servers by nature are usually not pausible. Once they get the dedicated server code figured out, I would expect we might get a pause for solo then.
