the big one
The longbow ... cant remember how to unlock but then you can one shot deer (its lousy against other things pfft!)
edit: nvm it cant be covered by a roof my bad but still doesnt explain why i cant see a spinning wheel anywhere in my craft menu
It plays like any other survival crafter, and if you're used to that you get in the same habits.
- Pick up anything you see that's new. See a new pickable flower? Pick it up. New Rock? Try to hit it. Can't break through yet? See if you can make a new tool for it yet. Etc. Gathering new and random things tends to unlock new recipes.
- Did you get a new material? Go look at each of your crafting stations, and see if it can be used in it. Check your build menu for new stuff in case you missed the notifications.
- Keep your eyes peeled for anything that's eye-catching or different from everything around it. There are exceptions to this rule (for example there's a swamp weed in the Bloodblight Swamp that blends in with everything). Essentially, if you see something sticking up from the ground, it might be gatherable, doesn't hurt to check.
- The biggest one, if you get stuck and feel like you're missing a recipe, or need something you don't have, don't be afraid to backtrack. Sometimes a material you need now may have been present in a previous location and you didn't realize it. That's happened to me in every survival crafter I've ever played, and this one was no different.
Above all just have fun, if you do need help or advice it does not hurt to ask about and look around. I do suggest getting into the 4 main habits I mentioned above though, it'll help you progress and find things easier~
