200+ FPS @4K > The Best Balance of Visuals+Performance Possible
I decided to write up a walk through for how to achieve the best possible balance of Performance and Visual Quality @4K settings. This will also improve performance on any other resolution as well.

This requires editing the UE5 graphics config files but it is super easy.

This will get rid of all blooming, all Blurriness during both day and night cycles, All Motion Blur and all Post processing Effects in game and allow you to run upwards of 180-200 FPS On RX7900XTX/RTX4080+ equivalent Hardware. However these settings will provide huge boosts for anyone using any GPU.

I have tested these settings for 2 days straight now, and finally dialed in what I think is the best balance of Performance and visuals possible given the current state of the game. (Early Access)

First there are somethings we need to change outside of the game itself. In the Config Files.

Step #1: Find your Config file location for the game. It should be located here>

C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\RSDragonwilds\Saved\Config\Windows

Step #2:
Open the above file location and locate these two Files>

-engine.ini
-gameusersettings.ini

Step #3:
Using a text editor (notepad or notepad++ is fine)
For Engine.ini Add these settings to the bottom>

(Copy and paste everything you see below at the bottom of the file.)

[/script/engine.renderersettings]
r.LumenScene.SurfaceCache.AtlasSize=4096
r.MaxAnisotropy=16
r.Upscale.Quality=0
r.Upscale.Softness=0
r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=0
r.TextureStreaming=0
r.DepthOfFieldQuality=0
r.BloomQuality=0
r.FilmGrain=0
r.SceneColorFringeQuality=0
r.DisableDistortion=0
r.Tonemapper.Quality=0
r.LensFlareQuality=0
r.Fog=0
r.VolumetricFog=0
r.MotionBlur.Quality=0

Now save this file, then right click the file and mark it Read Only.

Step #4:
Next go into gameusersettings.ini

Under [ScalabilityGroups] copy and paste these settings>

[ScalabilityGroups]
sg.ResolutionQuality=4
sg.ViewDistanceQuality=3
sg.AntiAliasingQuality=0
sg.ShadowQuality=0
sg.GlobalIlluminationQuality=0
sg.ReflectionQuality=0
sg.PostProcessQuality=0
sg.TextureQuality=3
sg.EffectsQuality=4
sg.FoliageQuality=0
sg.ShadingQuality=3

Now save this file, then right click the file and mark it Read Only.

Step#5:
Finally Start the game and go into Video Settings and Configure like below>
Quality Setting: LOW
Resolution: 3840X2160
Frame Limit: Dynamic
Vsync: OFF
FSR Enabled/DLSS Enabled
FSR Setting: QUALITY/DLSS Setting: Quality ( Note Setting to balanced will give you even more FPS)
Frame Gen: Enabled

The above Quality setting of LOW is very important as it disables the moving Plants in the game which instantly gives a +20 FPS boost in Wooded areas, and Static Plants play nice with FSR, (No Artifacting), and reduces GPU hits and temps as less objects are moving on Screen. This also provides the best balance of Visuals to Performance available without you feeling like your taking a huge step down in graphic fidelity. ( there is a VERY LOW SETTING as well, but Low works fine and looks great honestly.)

NOTE: If you are on a 2560X1440P monitor simply change the resolution to match your current monitors supported Resolution.

In my testing on a RX 7900 XTX, I am seeing up to 200+ FPS Outside. And 210+ FPS Constant when inside.

Hope this Helps!

NOTE: If you are trying to save on Power Usage simply set a FPS Limit either in your Graphics Cards Settings (AMD Adrenalin/NVIDIA Control Panel) or in game if you don't feel you need that many frames, and would like to reduce your power bill and GPU heat/Fan Speeds.
Remember if you don't have a 144hz+ Monitor it doesn't really make sense to let your graphics card churn out 144FPS right?:steamthumbsup:
Okay but we don't need 200fps to play Runescape, and frame gen is fake frames.

People don't buy high end cards to play at low graphics preset.
And plants not moving makes a game very gamey.

You can blame Unreal Engine for this problem; Photo-realistic at the cost of not optimising it whatsoever

It's not my fault the game isn't optimized broseph, take a look at all the high End users complaining about the horrible performance. .

AI/Fake Frames is the future whether we want it or not. As you can clearly see Devs are making games based on the idea that players will be using DLSS/FSR/FAKE FRAMES.
This is nothing new, you know it.. I know it, they know it.

The plants don't move in this game, they dance, as I am sure you are aware. Plants have been static in games since the Atari 2600, so its not a new concept. Moving 3D plants consumes processing cycles and ram on your GPU, but if you have to have it set your settings to medium, and Boom you have dancing plants.

If you don't want to try the settings, no problem for me...Up to you. But I promise you will have a better game experience if you do. Good Luck. :steamthumbsup:

UE runs very, very well though? Have you used latest version of UE5?

Yes, now if only they could get the whole Photo-Realistic thing down..I have played Numerous UE5 games and everyone of them appears to be a degradation in both Graphics Fidelity and Performance. I have not seen one game that made me say WOW. UE4 was actually a far better looking Engine and offered far more performance in my opinion.

It also doesn't help that most Developers making games these days are fresh out of Programming-101. The veterans have jumped ship or left the big companies in droves.

No, frame generation has never been the future haha. Not sure where you got that craziness from.

DLSS and frame gen are 2 entirely different things.

Better experience how? You suggested low graphics preset. That's not a better experience. That's just called disabling graphics effects to free up performance.

It's a known fact the UE5 runs like Frozen turd, especially when Devs stack on 15 different Post Processing effects, Bloom, Blur, etc etc..

Just check out a quick Google search> "UE5 Performance issues".

Many..MANY, games/projects under its belt currently. Almost everyone with huge performance issues.

I'm making an indie game and my UE5 game runs at over 100fps with complex water physics.

It's a well known fact many developers don't know what they're doing. And/or using old versions of UE5.
That doesn't mean the engine is crap.

Once again confidently incorrect.

It's now abundantly clear I am wasting my time discussing this with you. Good Luck. :steamthumbsup:
Once past 100 FPS visuals are much more important than extra FPS.

Once again you follow me everywhere randomly like a creep, and not watching that video.

If you say so :steamthumbsup::steamthumbsup:

You didn't write anything to even attempt to counter my points.

Correct, I am simply showing whats possible. And The Visuals still look great at my settings.. Give em a try and you will see, the game can run very well and look very good, just have to turn off all the Vaseline, blood shot eye inducing settings.. LOL

But yes if you'd like to Cap yourself at say 120FPS for your 120hz, Monitor or whatever Then kick settings to medium or High.. Totally up to you.
