From a YouTube video I have seen, it's more like a remote access chest you can summon anytime and anywhere you like, so you could keep mats in there for easy access. As for repairing things, once you get the Repair spell you don't need mats for gear repairs any more.
Storage is a right, not a privilige!!
Oh, I fully agree. It's a fantastic QoL feature in quite a few games I play, and it is indeed a curious omission. Mods are starting to appear, and I hope someone manages to make a mod for it. You never know.
