Why is the dragon killing me?

I started a game. Made it to the wise old man and as I was talking a dragon killed me. Reclaimed my body and killed again. WHenever I get into diolog with the man, the dragon shows up to kill me. In the morning I hear him roar and I chrouc and he flys over, circles around and kills me. No joke, he must have killed me 30 times. This is getting old. Do the devs know about this?

Like the dragon is shooting acid at you? Did you try not standing in the acid?

u are 14hrs in u should have figured it out by now.

anyway if u dont want to be attacked by the dragon then start a new character and don't touch the quest the wise old man gives, dont talk to him just skip him. this will make the dragon no longer spawn.

i just let him kill me, i dodged the poison for 10 minutes and it kept coming

I read a tip today about getting up higher than the ground, as the poison only affects the ground, passing through upper floors of buildings. It also works if you're on the flat roof of a ruin, which I noticed when I was in the swamp area. Two orcs and two rats attacked me, and then the dragon turned up and attacked the area. Time to try the tip I'd read earlier, so I Air-jumped onto the flat roof of the ruin.

I still thought that I was DEFINITELY going to die, but although the poison rained down and landed all over the place, I was totally safe on the flat roof. I could even glimpse poison areas on the ground beneath the flat roof, but I was completely unharmed! By this logic, you should have been safe when standing next to the Wise Old Man, though. I'll have to test that out as well, plus I have an upper floor on my shack now, so I want to see how that goes, too.

God info but I was killed 4 times talking to the old man. Really, you'll see lol.

nope, built an elevated house, the acid goes through the ceiling onto the elevated floor. only way i found to avoid it is to watch for the red circles and move.

Always carry the antidote with you. Acid breath will still cause damage, but at least you'll survive the poison if you accidentally get poisoned. It's also useful in combat against shamans. The second swamp biome is completely poisoned, so it's always useful.

This is false.
The dragon starts doing his barrages at any random time after surviving one day. Tested that myself, and in fact the first time I even saw the dragon barrage event was before I even reached the WOM in the valley. It was right after talking to Zanik for the first time about Runecrafting.
