Actually this is the one thing I was going to comment on.
Yeah it makes sense that swinging an axe or sword or engaging in sprinting consumes stamina - these are definitely cardio-related actions - but consuming stamina for a shield BLOCK? That's more strength/weight related because it's instantaneous.
Maybe my point would require the implementation of a strength stat. But then of course the whole "body type" passive surrender would get betrayed, eh? (meh, sorry to bring that in, but it's reality).
"Divisive" social issues aside, maybe a PARRY could have a stamina component but to simply block just means to be 1) strong (form doesn't break) and be 2) muscularly heavy (cuz fat cells don't provide any help with #1.
(divisive in quotes because a thing is only divisive if two reasonable positions oppose - xx/xy is literally hard science and not debatable)
But I think it needs tweaking because combat doesn't feel fluid currently. It's fine with only a few enemies but as soon as you start with more it becomes irritating. You can't run, can't dodge, can't attack, so you're basically just a fish out of water. And the enemy can chain up attacks and mince you in seconds.
I think the game needs some sort of agility implementation or way for you increase your stamina.
