Little question before buying game: Progress sessionbinded or free?

Im thinking about get this game, but before i have a little question:

If i play a while with friends, is my character playable on different sessions / lobbies or do i have to play / level again with each new playergroup i find?

Mean if my mates wont play the game longer, could i play my existing character on other parties?

Yes , all items and skills stay on character. You can go to any server/world or make new one with same char.

Okay, that sounds great. Firstly i thought its like many other coop-games where the progress is bounded to the lobby / server.

If you've ever played Valheim it works the exact same way.
Your character saves all items that's attached to it.
Your worlds stay consistent and save what's in it when you shut it down.
You can transfer items between worlds since characters can go between worlds, even multiplayer ones.

There's even a "Personal Chest" spell later that lets you save items in it and take them around with you.
