Wise Old Man is Just boxes for me During Dragon Slayer Quest

Been seeing quite a few people have this issue it seems.
Is there a way to fix this issue? I just checked out and emptied the blue light vault in the swamp for the dragon slayer quest. When I return to the spot where the game tells me to meet with the Wise Old Man, there are just 2 boxes there in his place.
I really don't want to start a new character as i have multiple stats in the 30s and all the spells unlocked.
