Cloud Saving with Syncthing
After playing for hours at work, and wanting to pick it back up at home, I was let down by having no Steam Cloud integration.
I was able to copy the files over, but I wasn't happy with the idea of manually doing this every time I play.

The best solution I've found to bring this type of functionality in is Syncthing. I've played on both devices back and forth and the saves have been updating just as Steam Cloud would. So, fingers crossed this keeps working for me and hopefully does for anybody else.

Here's a brief breakdown of my setup process:

Step 1: Finding the save files

Assuming you're own Windows, the folder should be:
C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\RSDragonwilds\Saved\SaveGames
C:\Users[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\RSDragonwilds\Saved\SaveCharacters
If you want to see these in your file browser, you will need to enable Hidden Folders to see the AppData folder.
You can copy these folders back and forth after every play session, but that's were Syncthing will step in.

Step 2: Installing Syncthing
For the sake of keeping this link free, search Syncthing and go to the downlloads section on their website. From there you'll pick the Syncthing Windows Setup link. Grab the latest .exe installer from the releases section on Github.
Install Syncthing on both devices and get the dashboard pulled up on each computer. (Usually localhost:8384 with default settings)

Step 3: Get the devices talking
Syncthing will need both/all devices to know about each other, this is done by exchanging device IDs. You should follow their Getting Started documentation for specifics, but I'll keep it short. On the console page in the top right is a drop down menu labeled "Actions." Click on that and then click on Show ID, we'll be using this on the other device.
In the bottom right of the console there will be a button labeled "Add Remote Device," click there. Enter the device ID of the other computer and paste it there, name the device whatever you please.
Once this is done on both devices, you should see the opposite computer under the Remote Devices list.

Step 4: Syncing folders
Now all we need to do is add the save folders from Step 1.
Add both folders, on one of the computers, each as their own folder. In my case the Folder label is the name of the folder; reference the file path above for the Folder Path field.
Once this is done, go to the edit field of the folder and click on the Sharing tab. You should see your other computer (with the name you chose) and a check mark next to it. Check this and hit save. Do the same on the other folder.
At this point you should get prompts on the other computer that a folder has been shared. Click on add folder and specify the same file path as above.
Assuming you've filled the fields in correct, you should see green text to the right of the folder in Syncthing saying "Up to Date." If so, you should be synced.

Once you have the sync setup you should have game saves being transferred as changes are made on either end. Syncthing syncs changes, essentially. So, stale saves shouldn't be a concern.

Hope this helps! I'm happy to answers questions in the comments as I can.

I'm kinda new to the sync app, i assume this is for local network situations only; correct?

For whatever reason my character and world are not showing in game. I performed these steps exactly as you stated, everything is showing synced, I can even see my world name and character name in the files on the pc I am trying to play on, but when I launch the game it just keeps making me create a new character. Not sure what the issue is.

OK nvm, I figured it out. Syncthing was trying to make a different path on the PC I was bringing the files to. Make the path is correct lol

Once you have it set up it will work remote as well so long as both of your devices are on and connected to internet

This is correct, the only thing holding back remote connections would be if the internet on one end only allowed whitelisted ports.

You need to make sure it is pointing at the exact path in Step 1.

I should have taken some screenshots, but the file path matched how yours was too. When I get home I'll do a full restart and see if that fixes it. One thing I want to ask is if you also synced the third folder that's already given to you when start using Syncthing? I think it was just called "Default Folder", but I renamed it to "Sync" and made the file path C:\Users\[YourUsername]\Sync

I haven't utilized the default folder at all, there shouldn't be any negative interactions if it is linked to a directory.

I think I got it to work. I think it was because I encrypted the folders with a password the first time lol. I could be completely wrong, but its working now! Sorry for the confusion.
All good! Happy to hear it's working for you! :steamhappy:

actually one more question. Do I need my main PC always connected to Syncthing or only the computer I'm playing on? For example, I can play at my job, so I could connect only on my laptop, and it'll be updated when I get home and turn on my other PC right?

the computer receiving the files seems to be making a new path. it appears correct on the sending computer though. i cannot edit the file path on the receiving computer though?

But what if one of my computers is asleep? Will they sync?
As in I play on computer A, while Computer B is asleep. Turn off Computer A, then get on Computer B. So no two are ever on at the same time.
