Epic Games Suck
I am extremely unhappy with purchasing a game on steam just to have to use epic games if I wish to play multiplayer. This is absurd.

Cry more

EOS is one of the best COTS solutions for cross platform play and cross progression.

Just a heads up it says it required 3rd party services on the store page for the game. This has been a requirement for posting a game on steam to let potential buyers know what they're purchasing for quite some time.

Usually(not always) when a game using Epic online services it's because they plan to introduce crossplay in the future. Epic has a very friendly relatively plug and play pipeline for this whereas Steam doesn't.

All you do is click one button and it either uses an Epic Account linked to your Steam if you have one, or it creates an "empty" account so you can use EOS to play multiplayer. That's all it does, you don't have to create or log into an account on your own, and you don't use Epic Games Launcher. It's just Unreal Engine's peer-to-peer networking service. I get not liking Epic Games (I don't either) but I'm not really getting the complaints for Jagex making use of a free p2p service.

Small things like these are what affects the price tag in the end. Which, to me is a positive. I didn't even know the Epic's P2P was free.

That's odd considering steam has a perfectly fine coop- and massive server-based multiplayer modules available.
Steam gamers think they are the only platform on PC. While Steam is objectively the BEST platform it is not the ONLY platform. I for one welcome our cross-platform gamers!

This isn't a Steam problem or Epic problem, this is a you-dont-understand-how-games-work problem. All the information was provided on the Steam store page but you bought it anyways and then complained about it on the forums.

I imagine you're the kind of person to order icecream at a restaurant and then send it back because you found out the cream used in it came from a farm.

Steams system can't be used for cross platform multiplayer, and they are going to have the game be cross platform MP with the console versions in the future.

to Sign in into Epic, is the only way, Steam and Epic Players can Crossplay, so i understand, if you have only Friends on Steam, Sux for you, but if you wanna coop ( maybe a other Game) this is cool that >Steam and Epic doing this. Because you got lees waiting time for searching a Game.

Ok. So i'll buy it for the Switch 2 then. No need for Epic bloatware that way considering Nintendo's stance on secondary service accounts.

you are wrong, Starship Troopers: Extermination use Crossplay between Pc Xbox and PS5 with Steam, its only a bit strange for the Console Guys and Ladys to add some Friends, but it works.

Epic Online Services work with Nintendo accounts too. So if the game releases to Switch 2 then EOS will still be used for that version too.

Also it's not bloatware since it takes very little amount of drive space and very little amount of memory.
People really think and breathe in the year 2025 and don't know to make a burner Epic account. You dont even need to download a launcher. Just give a fake email you make in 2 minutes and you're all set. If you think Epic is doing something sinister with your data, then you MUST be aware that your data has already been passed around like it's at a party.

That game isn't using Steam to provide the cross platform multiplayer. That game is either using a third party software they are paying for, or they created their own system to do the cross platform multiplayer.

Steam's system has no cross platform multiplayer function, developers either have to use a third party or create their own system to provide such a function.
