Yep that's the thing that has drawn me to it.
In your honest opinion though is it worth it as a crafting survival game at the moment or is it not bringing enough new to the table beyond its nostalgia?
it offers absolutely nothing new to the genre but i'm still enjoying it. if you're a fan of the genre you'll likely enjoy it too.
Lol. Can you expand on that please?
I'm watching a few youtube reviews but everything feels 'sponsored' so its hard to get a real idea. When these games come out all the youtubers scramble to hype it and then they all fall off them fast once so i really don't trust anything im watching.
Great reply. Thanks. That helps clarify alot of my questions and concerns.
After viewing the credits on how big of a project this was I can tell they needed more funding, which is why they released it as early access. Hoping the best that they can mold it into a better performing fantasy survival game.
Price is a bit too ambitious in my opinion for an early access game, especially when its competing with valheim and enshrouded in the genre. I never played runescape but have played alot of crafting survival, the price point is a bit too steep when there's better options for the same gameplay loop at a lower price though I assume it's the price that comes with the IP which is fair enough.
I also need a bit of a push from someone that doesn't have rose tinted nostalgia glasses and look at this game purely from the crafting survival aspect before I buy.
The thirst and hunger rate is crazy out of wack. you have to be eating and drinking like every 5 minutes. you spend more time farming ingredients than framing for gear.
Ah yeah now i have played some i understand lol
So it's one of those anti-fun targeted games. I don't rly understand what hunger and thirst bring to the table in an open world rpg other than being annoying af. I play a fair bunch of open world crafting games and not a single one made hunger and thirst be meaningful. The only exception is The Long Dark because it's literally a game about surviving in the cold dark wilds.
I don't really mind it if its balanced properly to be honest.
It's just another stat to keep track of and later you can cook more things that hold back hunger and thirst for longer.
There is a level of immersion i guess where you want to make sure you are well fed and watered before going on a quest and i do like having to stop to cool a meal at night or eat something
