RuneScape: Dragonwilds

RuneScape: Dragonwilds

I'll be as fair as i can be, but can I stop dying?
I want to be as fair as I can, because this is still in beta. There's a lot they did right and a lot to improve.

Pros:
Skilling is straight forward and not nearly the grind of OSRS or RS3. I saw runecrafting and nearly gave up until i realized you make the altar. Almost everything you do gives you experience so you fly through early levels. The skilling trees could be more compacted so you don't have to scroll for a week to see what you unlock.

Fighting is simple, but strategic. It's easy to get overwhelmed if you just run into an area unprepared. They keep the 3 main fighting styles of runescape, each having their benefits. Fighting is stamina based which has it's own pros and cons.

Most of the monsters and item names are call backs to runescape, down to the character creation starting you as a bot. Although I do wish there was more connection to the runescape world as a whole. Maybe we can see more elements of the gods and their conflict over this new land.

Cons:
It's far too easy to die early game. At home? dragon attack. Skilling? get hunted. Died in a vault? grave guarded, hope you have a weapon or 3.

Nutrition drops constantly. I'm spending most of my time collecting food and water or consuming it just to stay alive. Advanced recipes make it somewhat easier, but I still find myself having just enough for a short expedition.

Building doesn't give you any indication of WHY something is unstable. I had 4 support beams with cross beams for a roof and still couldn't build it. Maybe give us a highlight of where something is needed?

There's some visual glitches where the landscape flashes to a negative coloring. Not sure what's causing it.

For your first comment about compacting the skill trees, a possibly even simpler solution: just have the page open to your currently achieved level so you don't have to scroll down to see where you are.
So you don't save any weapons just in case of a death, you don't bring extra food on longer trips, and you can not understand geometry to build, is this your first game in the genre?
I mean when i get swarmed by 4 temple guardians and my bone club or dagger or bow does nothing and i run out of stam in the first 3 seconds of the fight and cant regain stam yeah its easy to die

The building system is wonky when it comes to multiple floors. I think ash wood just can't go beyond two floors if you want a roof. I wound up unlocking foundation pieces that are meant to support a larger build.

There's a ton of RuneScape references and links if you listen to the dialog from NPCs and read the lore books. There's plenty of links through the gear, and even lore in some of the special items. I won't spoil it, but read some item descripts.

It's easy to die yea, but that's intentional, and honestly it just means you have to practice patience and precision. You can't go in guns blazin.

Try building some Foundations, not just beams.

Sleep in a bed. You're fatigued.

Keep your hunger and thirst up and fatigue low, they affect your stamina.
Pick your fights carefully, try not to aggro more than 1, but if you accidentally do, try to dodge around or block them, wait for opportunities to land staggering special attacks or magic secondaries. If you can't beat it, come back later with better gear, you don't always have to do all vaults right as you find them.
