Remove Hunger and Thirst!
It's so annoying. I want to play the game by exploring, fighting, leveling my skills, and building and furnishing my house, not NEEDING to feed myself every 5min! Let cooking be a skill solely to replenish HP and MP. Cooking itself is enjoyable but remove the Hunger and Thirst.

I would like to suggest an alteration of settings rather than a complete removal of a system.
Managing your Hunger/Hydration is a fundamental part of "Survival" games and therefore does fit and should be a part of the game-play, although the current settings are AWFUL!
I have to eat/drink WAY too often, this is in dire need of attention and fixing.

Using a mod, I found dropping the hunger/thirst rate by 75% to be just about right for me. I may well try the variant of it that drops it by 50%, because I also think it should be part of the game-play. As you say, the current system is indeed awful. It's almost like a First Breakfast, Second Breakfast, Elevenses kind of thing. 🙂

I dont think you understand what a "survival" game is

I can name you two handful survival games who have the OPTION to remove thirst and hunger in the settings or have a creative mode ...

So what is wrong to give players who want to drink and eat the option ... and other the option to remove? Win - win for both?

Creative mode with achievements disabled for those that want it would be great.

Literally their first patch buffed boiled water from +20 to +30 hydration.
thats a horrible fix to the problem, the problem is the speed of the drain not filling it. Changing how much water fills hydration does nothing for the problem, filling the bars are easy, just too much of a chore.

idk, at the same time games are supposed to be "fun"

I have no problem with depleting resources, but the rates need tuning WAY down, and/or eating needs to be sped up, or less restrictive to movement.
i agree with this. games are trying too hard to make the experience tedious and annoying and there's so little focus on just having fun and going on adventures. having the -option- to set the world to whatever settings you enjoyed would be great. it would not hurt anyone: those who prefer default settings could use default settings. those that want a peaceful, calm world could use relaxed settings. or disable it entirely. etc. everyone wins.

Let everybody play as they want? If you want a hardcore experience or a easy one. Everybody as he like. More options in a game = better game.
Yeah they need to add in Palword style server settings so you can change settings on it to chill or be as depraved as you want.

Or, just make the game good and not ruin it with arbitrary settings that limit the scope of the game.

Fun fact, you can run your own world to whatever parameters you want and I can run my own world with whatever I want. Almost like it doesn't matter and you can tailor the game to your liking.

Do not mind the hunger or thirst but would like to see two modifications.

1) Longer day/night cycle. Nothing drastic, maybe 10 to 20 percent longer.

2) With or without longer day/night, longer time for food and thirst to go down. Seems far too short now.

Definitely they may look in to balancing Hunger and thirst metter.
And currently there is not real reason to make anything better than basic food and drinking water as there is no beneficial Buffs like ( Valheim / Enshrouded ) so it's fell like buissy work ATM outside HP regeneration...

Game have limited storage ( Inventor
/ chest have low amounts of slots and especially food stack are small ) and crafting lack quality of life ( you need to have resources in you inventory)

Somewhere I read in game that different foods buff in different ways. I do not know if it is not implement at this time however. There is no visible effect (yet) that I can tell.

I played the pre-alpha test but will not be playing the early access, so I'm curious about this system: How does the current thirst/hunger mechanics work?

In the pre-alpha, the food system was identical to Valheim: There were different kinds of foods which granted different levels of Health and Stamina boosts for their duration. I noticed during a stream that this system has been replaced with just a generic hunger/thirst meter, is that correct? No more stat buffs depending on the quality of the food consumed?
If this is true I don't know why they would replace it with the current iteration. I loved Valheim's food system.

I dislike how fast it drains, but I also hate the whiplash reaction they had once already where they changed clean water to filling up so much of your thirst bar. Then again, it's not like we need to drink that much water in real life.

I really think hunger and thirst need to be optional mechanics. They don't really add anything to the game imo, but I get that some people want it. The reality is that berries and dirty water are everywhere, and they're perfectly adequate for handling the meters. The only real uses for cooking are the recipes that give you boosts.

Yeah some foods have durations attached to them, but if there is an effect for that, it's sure not written or shown. I just get the duration meter. I've never moused over the meter to see if it says anything more.
