Right click sound icon bottom right and "open volume mixer"
Then click on the steam one and change from default output device to whatever device you want....
Seems to have worked for me, could've been something else.
I changed my device's input to bluetooth and it worked without issues.
If your device can only use usb, try another one and see if you still have the issue.
I seemed to fix it after going into my audio device's advanced properties and changing it from "2 Channel, 32 bit, 384000 Hz (Studio Quality)" down to "192000 Hz".
A similar issue occurred for me when I had it set to 384000 Hz when playing Fortnite and funnily enough Old School Runescape.
Changing bitrate indeed fixes the issue for me as well. It was not the change in device/input mode but the change in bitrate!
This is the best fix. It instantly brought back sound. No need to exit the game or anything.
This is it, thank you.
