Classic Runescape Locations?

This says it is on a new continent... will there be classic Runescape locations or characters? Looks like the wise old man is in one of the screenshots, so the latter answer seems to be yes... but are they going to connect this game to the one we've been playing for 20+ years? i.e., will the new continent be coming to Runescape itself? Seeing cities we love like Lumbridge, Varrock, etc. in this graphic style would be awesome.

Hello! It's a new continent but set in the RuneScape universe - it's connected to the world of RuneScape you know and love. Same gods, same goblins, same grave danger! There's a lot we've not shown yet, but we'll get there in time!

Man I was excited for this game but hearing it's on a new continent kind of killed all my momentum... I've loved Runescape my entire life and now I'm just sitting here thinking "No Lumbridge in gorgeous 3D? No Fight Pits? You mean this giant green dragon in the marketing isn't THE giant green dragon Elvarg?".

I've heard a lot of "it's Runescape at its core" and "it's still connected to the Runescape you know and love", but... where? I saw the Wise Old Man in the trailer and that's honestly it. Sure there are goblins, but goblins are a dime a dozen in fantasy. Show me a TzHaar. Show me Zanaris. Or it doesn't even have to be that stuff. Just show me anything to convince me this is a Runescape game and not just a generic game with the word "Runescape" in the title

I'm holdin ya to it, Doom!! I've been ranting and raving feverishly for like 5 years at least about how I wanted a runescape 3d skyrim style rpg, and this announcement is close enough. I can't explain to you how excited I am to get in there!

Thank you for the reply! I've been playing runescape for 20+ years and as a big Valheim fan as well, this announcement is extremely exciting. Cannot wait to see more info!

I'm not against an all-new area but honestly, the locations in the trailer didn't give me any RuneScape vibes whatsoever. Ultimately, I don't need the old locations but I really do hope the game feels like Gielinor and the multiverse of lore that the Gower brothers and ex-Mod Osborne shaped. If it feels like a RuneScape adventure, that's the most important part in terms of the game itself.
