The triple kick is a good way to disarm enemies that can actually be disarmed, but a much better way is to just harpoon them. Also, the harpoon can be used to instantly kill most enemies, making combat a moot point. I find launching enemies into deadly environmental pieces is more fun than hacking away at them. If there aren't any deadly environment pieces, just launch them, run over to them, and attack; there's a good chance this will lead to dismemberment.
When you want to feed or raise your rage bar, it's often a good idea to do so from behind, and for the rage bar it is a good idea to hold the harpoon button while pressing the attack button to get more rage from it. For me, the best way to get behind someone is to lock on to them and jump toward them, which usually puts you behind them if close enough. This works quite well throughout the game on standard mooks. Feeding and raising the rage bar are generally a safe way to kill without issue; when surround, it's often enough to just rotate the body you're feeding on. When really low on health, you may want to enter Rage while feeding to help stay alive.
