2nd Day of Pie Simulation

Hey sorry to bother you, friendly people of the internet. Not usually one to really use the forum or use the walk through guides but I'm currently at a stand still.

My issue is this:

on the second day of the Pie simulation the objective is to retrieve the magic marker from the basement. I can get the key without issue however I am unable to unlock the door to the basement. Listed below is the different things I have tried.

- clicking on the door
- clicking on the lock
- opening up inventory, choosing the key, and clicking on the lock with cursor
- opening the inventory and placing the image of the key over the lock
- opening the inventory, choosing the key and clicking on the door with the cursor
- opening the inventory and placing the image of the key over the door
- I have tried all of the above during the time Pia is going to the door to get the pizza
- tried all these things with every post dinner hour on the upstairs digital clock until bedtime

Its very likely that I'm missing something or doing something wrong, but after 6 replays of the same day I'd definitely appreciate some assistance if possible. Thank you kindly

You can pick up the key when Pia has the door open and is paying for the pizza, then you can use the key on the lock right after eating, and then immediately go downstairs and find the marker

You will need to use a different method thereafter. Try draining the pool. Order the pump first thing, though.

I figured out what I was doing wrong. The old school interface requires you to open the item menu and close it to use the objects unlike the newer interface where you can just drag the objects from the menu. Thank you so much for attempting to assist!

That stumped me at first as well.
