Biggest scam in gaming
This sentiment keeps getting thrown around, yet I don't see anyone losing money?
Everyone was refunded
They never took any pre-orders

How were you scammed again?

From what I read it seems it's the fact they tried to scam people. They may have failed but they tried to nonetheless.

There are so many scams in gaming lol, this is not the biggest and not even a particularly good one, just an epic fail that blow up in their face. They had to refund everyone and went into hiding.

The scamming refers to two things:

1) Falsely advertising the game through the entire course of development as an Open World Zombie Survival game when it fact it was a Looter Shooter, and even releasing into early access with the Open World Zombie Survival tags.

2) Taking publisher money and Singapore government subsidies (Through a false address also, mind you) that totaled, I believe the last time I saw the numbers, around 1.4 million dollars.

The steam sales never were the goal. The publisher money and the government money were. Set up dummy studio address, make a vertical gameplay slice full of smoke and mirrors every year or so, suck that money dry, release an asset-flipped half assed shell of a "game", then "close" down once it released. Releasing it fulfilled their "obligations" and they made away with all the money invested.

Steam sales didn't even go to them, as it wasn't live on Steam for the 30 days needed for Steam to pay out.

Star Citizen is the all time biggest scam in gaming. ($600+ mil in funding, 10+ years past supposed release dates and no coherent game in sight? Yeah...)

And there is nothing even close.

Star Citizen is, like Scientology, Mormonism, and the work of Robert Tilton and Peter Popoff, a complete and total scam, so obvious one too, and yet people will still defend it. I swear, sometimes, I think people want to be victims for attention at this point. I can't think of any other reason why people fall for the most obvious scam ♥♥♥♥.
