Discover the World is ridiculous
Cash generation, even with a good start, is just way too low to unlock a new territory every six minutes while even dreaming of managing traffic. Consider that only 55% of players have unlocked 10 territories in this mode and it's evident either the mode is not popular or it's too hard. Updates since launch might have exacerbated this, I'm unsure, but it's maddeningly frustrating to even attempt.

Hi, do you play classic version or version with random territory? In the classic version that is started from Germany there is easier difficulty. Maybe you could share screenshot of your game so we could write some tips.

Others have complained about that as well:

However, as I have also written in that thread, I do not really understand how people find it impossible to get going. I tried it again today and got to 50 countries (and I could have kept going). Tried it a second time, got to 10 countries (and could have kept going).

Yes, I restarted immediately when the first cities spawned in Germany were too far apart or if an early random event cost me too much. But you say "even with a good start" you have problems. And that makes me think you might need to do things differently. But I don't know what you are doing, so as talentplace said, a screenshot might be helpful. Maybe you can even record a video? Would love to help, anyway.
Not every single one is winable, based on spawn, 2nd country, events, etc... You get past a certain hump though, and from there any one is winnable it's just a matter of time.

I enjoy trying the starts that seem impossible, sometimes you can pull it off but you have to min/max everything and only buy what is absolutely required.

The events feel extremely, utterly unfair. Like just when you're about to scrap by, a random lawsuit comes along and completely bankrupts you. You have no money to hire a lawyer, and what already feels extremely tight suddenly becomes absolutely impossible. Then add to it a sudden quarantine of a major country and you're devolving further.

Its fine to make a game challenging, but I think some of the random events really makes zero sense to be there.

Yeah, I also think that the fines have reached ridiculous amounts compared to three years ago, when I started playing the game. It feels like the businessman who got his coffee spilled now wants to single handedly bankrupt an entire multinational airline out of pure greed instead of asking for some kind of compensation.

I will check those prices for events and I will probably change it.

So I've been trying to play the game with random starting locations for over 2 hours now and only managed to keep Europe and a bit of the Middle East once. After that, you quickly fail due to events and slow income. There is no longer any chance of improving the infrastructure.

Then you have starts like in Canada. OK...
Next destination Greenland; $300 and $900 for connection.
Then USA; 370 + 900.
Unfortunately there was no connection.

Start in Moscow. OK...
Storm is coming and Moscow is no more. Next country failed.

And so the failures continued.

I've already played through the game several times in Classic mode, but that's no longer normal.

Game seems broken atm. I've started dafault game with Germany start. Over 20 times. I've lost 7 times before unlocking 2nd country. 8 times before unlocking 3rd. Multiple times because of "you loose money because reasons" pushing me into heavy debt + spawn of new airport.

Currently I'm seeing issue with airports with single connection. Plane leaves through the only path with ~25 of 100 possible people and somehow there are still 19/50 people in the airport with no destination shown.

edit: I've found source of the bug, it happened again. Previously I had flights canceled to Italy because of volcano, this time Libya had ebola outbreak. Both countries now have 'ghost' passengers.

yes. I have unlocked 97 countries and I have to sell routes to have enough money to unock the next country...and a lot of cities are at there limit and I cannot upgrade them, because I have no money for the...and it is annoying that the map moves to these cities everytime...I have to pause the game to unlock a country or create a new route

I finished the discover the world mode, did a number of achievements as well, like unlocking Canada, China and Russia in the first 30 countries or having a 40 min buffer time between the next country. Maybe it was luck but it is achievable. Had to restart a couple of times, but nothing too crazy, mostly because I tried to buy countries I didnt have to unlock for the achievements and that tanked my economy. But I did save whenever I was in a good spot economically, so that helped as well.

I wanted to come back to this and chime in after beating DTW mode a few weeks back. I did it by save-scumming every week - save when I get a neutral / positive random event, reload when its a lawsuit.

To be honest, this really marred my impression of the game and I don't feel any desire to replay it at all. But I'm hoping the devs will continue to develop the game for the sake of others.

So, I bought the game yesterday and I already managed to hold most of Europe and the US.

There are to things imho: of you get a bad start, so bad locations, bad first country to connect or early bad events, just restart.

The second is: don't follow the game, make the game follow you. The next country to unlock is random between any neighboring country. But what the game doesn't tell you is that you can unlock also other countries, not only the one which is set as goal

If you do things well and you get a good start, you can start unlocking extra countries. You want to get France ASAP, then Spain, UK. Those are good money makers. Then Portugal and... from Portugal you can unlock the US. The US will cost you a lot of money to set up (consider having something like 4/5k before going for it) but it also have an insane amount of passengers, aka money. Connecting DC to Paris is about 2.5k and you will need very fast 4 planes level 4 to handle the route.

Yeah same thing here. I played it a couple month ago and got really far, just now i tried 4 times with Germany and failed 3 times without unlocking a country, losing barely 2 minutes after unlocking one country. I was also only able to unlock the second country because one side airport got closed and i got a 200$ compensation.

What happend to the game in the meantime? There is not that much you can mess up in that timeframe and pretty much zero decision making going on in the first couple minutes, as you simply dont have any cash to decide anything. There are 4 airports you connect in the most efficient way possible, then you wait and then you fail. Awesome. Tried it 4 times, then i just left because it´s pointless.
