Female fish?

All any of the stores seem to have is male and I want females. Is there a reason or am I just unlucky?

Hi! Female fish are coming but not in the game yet. We have them planned to release near or alongside breeding. We want to make sure breeding is really interesting rather than just "present", so it's a few months out from today.

Aww. See, I was gunning to breed right away, but I understand there was a bit of a flub in the "EA" department. lol Greatly anticipated though! I want a school of female bettas! If you don't mind me asking, I know that some male fish are aggressive to other males (bettas being one) is there a way I can look up which ones aren't in the game?

Betta Sororities are high on my list, too!

I'm not sure I follow the question, can you rephrase? I want to make sure I answer it correctly.

Sorry. ^^; Is there like an indicator or a note somewhere in game that will tell me which male fish aren't aggressive towards other males? I already know betas are aggressive (and this was demonstrated in their store tank as well), but I'm not very familiar with many other fish types beyond neon tetras, and knowing ciclids are temperamental.

Oh! Well first of all our data research was *extensive* (Thank you to Erin on that one, she's a research wizard) so if you want to know a broad thing like that, Google will give you a useful result. The game currently doesn't surface that level of detail, but you should see it playing out in the store if the fish isn't alone. I do have plans for a more thorough encyclopedia feature in the future for this very reason.

The betas all being in one tank was certainly an interesting thing to watch. I, however, was more surprised by the many many tiger oscars all being in the same tank! Yikes! I hope for an encyclopedia in the future, but I will make google my friend for now. Thank you for your prompt answers and communication! I absolutely love this game, I think it meets a need I was looking for in a game a couple months ago when I suddenly wanted an aquarium (not gonna happen lol). I look forward to growing my knowledge of fish as the game gets more complex with additions to tank customisation and care!
