Nobody knows.
New info drops March 11.
Next update will likely drop within a month after March 11
Nobody knows, yeah. Poor communication, no updates, no content for a year. For me at least it seems that the EA release was supposed to grap some money. Maybe somewhere in 2030.. Surely a game like other titels that will stay in EA for 6+ years or more.

I'd be surprised (happily) if it ever will

They (Moon) are undergoing a change in publisher. It's a legal mess. They're still working hard on the game, and discuss what they can on their Discord. The next update should be very substantial, once the publishing debacle is sorted. Have faith, Sacrament endures.

It better be, because people are going to scrutinize that update hard, and it wouldn't be the first time a dev overestimated their opinion on "substantial" content. Right now people are like waiting, waiting to see if all the supposed "work" in the background is actually true.

But if this doesn't fit a year of content and polish, a lot of people are going to rightfully write off the game for good.

Fair criticism. But personally, I don’t mind if it takes another five years to finish the game—because it’s just that good.
I understand the frustration, the long wait, and the lack of communication—and I agree: if the next update isn’t substantial, it will raise some eyebrows.
But as long as they deliver quality, I don’t mind waiting. I’ll just play other games in the meantime.

You do realize in 5 years time your taste for gaming may change or you grow out of it. Just like Avatar movies.

Truly worthy movies are wonderful even after 50 years. I’ll play this game anyway. Because it’s unique. Diablo+Souls.
